Surrounded by the Guatemalan treasure, Tikal, this Lodge is like no other. Beautifully updated and focused on enhancing and supporting visitors to this World Heritage site, the lodge and restaurant even transports the visitor from tha airport to the Lodge. Most immediately and notably, staff at the Lodge oversaw the competent, efficient, and emotional response to the aftermath of the CLOSURE of the park, due to quarantine in the fear of the Covid-19 virus. When Guatemala rapidly announced the closure at midnight, staff at the lodge met, rededicated themselves to guest care and served breakfast, assisted in the planned departure of many guests. Then staff transferred all remaining guests by shuttle to the Lodge's sister-hotel in the airport city of Flores, where guests were assured of a lovely, quality stay in Isla de la Flores Hotel for the remainder of their reservation -at no additional charge. Guests from all over the world were comforted, protected, and honored by this dedicated staff and the caring management of the Tikal Jungle Lodge. I have never witnessed the degree of selfless, personal devotion to meeting the responsibility to their guests, as I saw in those scary times in the far-off Guatemalan jungle. Be assured, when the world accommodates the presence of Covid-19, and it will, I can imagine myself among the first to reschedule my tour of Tikal and stay - without doubt - at the Jungle Lodge in Tikal, which Orbitz must publically recognize Best Hoteln 2020.
Amazing place to stay! Right in the jungle but with the amenities of most resorts. Clean, beautiful and the staff are lovely.
The lodge was very nice and comfortable. All members at Jungle lodge were very nice and helpful. My room was in a separate hut with luxurious bathroom. Windows were just screens except bathroom had glass windows. Weather seems always warm, so I did not get cold during night. There are nets over the beds. Internet connection at the lobby was decent. I arranged shuttle and all the tours ahead via e-mail and everything was in place when I got there. Lodge is located at the gate of Tikal. Two monkeys were fighting on the tree front of my hut. Collectible shuttle runs between Flores airport and the lodge with fee ($20 one way). But, these shuttles only run in the morning and evenings. Between collective shuttles, You can ask the lodge to arrange individual vans, but it will cost a lot more ($95 one way). So, better arrange your flight accordingly. Also, airplane I took at 1pm was so small, only 15 maximum passengers. Anyway, I think better to go to Tikal early in the morning and leave in the evening. Either way, shuttle driver will stop at the ticket booth on the way to the lodge. You need to purchase tickets to go to Tikal if you did not get them ahead at Banrural Bank (required passport to buy tickets, tickets had my name in them). I took daytime tour and a sunrise tour and both were very good. Be aware that there will be a lot of walking and climbing stairs. Bring plenty of water. There are many bathrooms inside in case you worry about it. Have fun!
Excellent food. Sunrise tour of Tikal excellent. Lots of monkeys parrots toucans and other birds. Hot water and electricity were sporadic, but given the remoteness of the lodge, understandable.
The best location to explore Tikal, at the entrance to the park to enjoy full days exploring the ruins and experiencing the wildlife..
The accommodation was superb, the staff mostly helpful and friendly. The only really big downside was the quality of the food served in the hotel’s restaurant and that there weren’t any other better alternatives at other places. We’ve been now almost a month in Guatemala and the food was by far the worst we came across during that time. We talked to a lot of fellow travellers who thought exactly the same. Very disappointing for a hotel in this price class.
Rustic hotel in the middle of the Mayan Jungle with all the modern conveniences
Location is excellent and staff are great. Definitely the place to go for a visit to Tikal
From pick up to drop off our stay was easy + relaxing. We made day-of reservations and even with the late night flight, the hotel picked us up from the airport just as described. We checked in and bags were taken to our cabin. Heat and humidity had a hold on us but the room was cooled slightly by the overhead fan. The mosquito netting over our bed seemed to be more for decoration than practicality though we did spot a few small buggy roommates over the three days - It's the jungle, afterall... The outdoor pool was nice + relaxing, even in December during a rain storm. All the staff we interacted with were professional, welcoming and friendly. Random things to note: Rolling electricity - The whole place is powered via generators - We appreciated this though it was a surprise. Wifi and cell service are only in the main building and at the pool. Try the restaurant and perhaps, skip the bar; our drinks were sweet and sugary but little lax on flavor + booze.
Beautiful property with ideal location to visit Tikal
