Storm Mountain Lodge was incredibly disappointing. It was marketed as a peaceful idyllic location but is actually located on a curve of a large highway. We couldn’t sleep at all because of semi and car traffic. It was impossible to have a conversation on our porch. Bad bad bad

8/10 Very good

Storm Mountain lodge delivers on the rustic cabin concept to a fault. The cabin itself shows very well in a photo but they are very small and cramped, ours had an awkward layout. There is one tiny sink outside the bathroom, nowhere to put toiletries, no kitchenette. We were constantly juggling stuff. The furniture inside and out was in worn out condition. They really emphasize the wood burning fireplace, but when we arrived the cabin was extremely smokey and when we lit a fire it did not vent properly and we set off a fire alarm (and no one checked on us or anything). The issue of being directly on a highway (which they do warn about) was not as bad as it seemed on arrival, the highway is quiet at night. But for such a gorgeous location and mountain view, enjoying it seemed sub optimal. The highlight for us was the restaurant, the food is fantastic, just make sure to book ahead. We didn't really have any contact with staff outside the restaurant, and the front desk was closed when we left at 730am. I feel like the whole thing needs some maintenance and love, we would not stay here again.

6/10 Good

We arrived after dark (11pm), the front desk was closed and as we were not provided with a map of the grounds, we could not locate our cabin. I tried calling the number, but was told by the automated message to leave a message. As we drove around the grounds, we saw a cabin just for staff, then we knocked on the door and finally tracked down a young staff who was off duty and he took us to our cabin in the dark. Once we arrived at our cabin, there were no lights outside, and the real cabin name was W instead of the WP. I think if it had not been of the young man, we would have slept in our car. The next morning, I explained our situation to the front desk staff and mentioned they should have a map of the site at the entrance showing the cabins location, but I was told they always send a map with the welcome email, not the case for us, maybe because we had booked thru Expedia. Regardless, she did not seem to care what had happened to us, making me feel like it was my fault for not being able to find my cabin in the pitched-black site that I had never been to before. I will not stay there again as the price was also too much for what we got.

8/10 Very good

I loved the location. The cabins are small. The fire places are nice. The smoke alarm and temperature gage just hang on the wall and are not installed. It seems like they ate there just for show. Staff are nice and helpful.

Great romantic getaway
We stayed in a historical cabin, which explains my rating in terms of comfort. The bathroom was cold, even when heating the cabin and the shower was a bit funky. However, it was wonderful to make a fire at night. The restaurant associated with the lodge has great food, but the service is slow, on account of a lack of enough wait staff.
