We had a great time at the hotel. It’s in a fantastic location just inside the Médina walls, across from a great cafe called l’Atelier and a short walk to the main beach. The staff were very welcoming and kind. The rooms were clean and comfortable. There was some mold in the shower in our room but otherwise more just general wear and teaR.
A timeless Riad in a supreme location to both the beach and the Médina. Interior is tastefully designed with old world charm.
The Hotel was nice and the location was great. People were nice but unfortunately booking with Hotels.com was a huge mistake. They overcharged us 2,000 dollars (more than double the amount we paid for our overall stay) with the excuse that the hotel charged that amount for an extra kid. The hotel showed us the details and it was not true. We called hotels.com since the day we checked in and for the next 9 consecutive days asking for an explanation and never got an answer until after the 9th call a manager told us there was nothing he could do and there was no explanation for the overcharged but we were not getting our money back.
Really unique Riad inside the Medina. Loved the rooms and staff were fantastic. We drove here from Marrakech and there is close public parking and a very short walk to the Riad. Amazing breakfast on the rooftop overlooking the beach. Must stay if you are in Essaouira.
The place was in a great location. Interesting atmosphere but was disappointed when we got there and were told that the second night there was no room for us. Our room was guaranteed and paid for so this was upsetting and I felt it could have been handled differently. the outcome was that we were able to stay another night. The breakfast was great. And the view from the terrace fantastic.
Very authentic riad with helpful and friendly staff. Delicious breakfast.
We loved our room on the second floor. It was spacious and clean. The rooftop patio was very enjoyable for breakfast and the view was spectacular- probably close to the best if not the best view of the beach and ocean. Essaouira is a gem - we stayed 2 days and would have loved to have stayed longer. Highly recommend Villa de I’O!
The villa de l’O is a very beautiful property well located for visiting both the shoreline inEssaouira and the Medina. The staff was helpful and the hammam was excellent.
Beautifully located just inside the first gate to the city, convenient to all major sites, lovely rooftop terrace with fabulous views of the beach and town.
The hotel is a splendid Portuguese-style colonial house with an open centre "courtyard" (now with a glass roof) and rooms arranged around the sides on three levels. Perfectly located close to the medina, port and beach, it is probably the best place to visit and explore Essaouira. Our room (with a sea view) was spacious, clean and decorated in a pleasant colonial style, with old-fashioned ornaments and even had an working antique telescope. You get a lovely view across the bay from the roof top terrace, where breakfast is served each morning. It can get a bit breezy and cool there first thing, but it is worth it for the view. Good continental style breakfast with fresh fruit, yoghurt, pastries, bread, cake and coffee. Sadly the restaurant on the ground floor doesn't get used in the evening, probably because they don't currently have a licence to sell alcohol. There are several good restaurants in close walking distance, so it isn't a major problem but if they got a licence, you'd be tempted to stay in the hotel for convenience.
