There are many fun activities at Chena that we enjoyed. The rooms we stayed in were very outdated and lighting was harsh. For the dining we were made to wait to sit down to eat as we saw open tables and another group was seated before us.
Amazing place.. stuff out of a wonderland. Resort which combines ruggedness and nature with comfort and amenities. The springs themselves are so relaxing and the activities the resort offers are just mind blowing. I would also like to say that this place has one of the best restaurants in Fairbanks area.
In general good experience, restaurant has a nice ambiance and really good food (breakfast and dinner), the tour to see the aurora was an amazing experience (thanks to James). The ice museum tour incredible experience, really good drink from the Massachusetts girl, really nice customer service. The hot spring unbelievable, don’t worry about the weather outside, it keeps you hot all the time, even your head (we jumped in with -15•, and we are from Miami). The hotel will have my excellent review if some staff at the restaurant, front desk, and around the hotel change for a better customer service. Also, the room needs just a little retouch. Also, be aware about the water, smell funny, I recommend to buy bottle of water before arriving, to drink and brush your teeth.
Very unique experiences, comfortable place to stay
Fabulous staff, amazing hot springs, great amenities, not so comfy bed. Overall, an exceptional experience! And don't miss the fresh veggies!
Hot Springs it’s self and outside while it was snowing.
I reserved the bear family suite. I even had a screen recording of me making the reservation. I had also had facebook conversations with Chena Hot Springs discussing the reservation and need for a freezer for birthday ice cream for my daughter's 18th birthday. They overbooked and didn't have my room. They tried to put us in one hotel room in the moose lodge when I had reserved a two bed, two bath suite. They did finally put us in two rooms, on separate floors, no fridge or freezer. Ice cream went in the trash. Rooms were in disrepair, dingy, crooked lamp shades, overly hot with ceiling fans that only work if the bright light is on as well, so no sleeping with the fan on, loose toilet seats, toilets that rock when you sit on them, crappy tv reception, vending machines that don't work...We also wanted to eat at the restaurant but they had a waitlist of 18 tables. People were crowding without masks. The hostess made an announcement that she could pair groups together to speed up the wait times and got really snarky when nobody wanted to take her up on it (during a pandemic). We decided to order our food to go. Picked up our food and went back to our rooms but half the order was missing. Walked back over to get the rest of the order, then back to rooms only to realize they also forgot my bread for my smoked salmon pasta. Not sure about the algae situation in the pool either. It's pretty slimy in there and we all had visible algae in our suits after. Ruined an 18th birthday.
Chena Hot Springs is an amazingly fun place to stay. The activities and the surrounding area are fantastic. The hotel rooms are simply Alaskan old school, which makes it an even more authentic experience. The beds were very comfortable too, but the highlight is the hot springs lake! If you like a good soak and getting away from it all, this is your place!
I stayed here for 2 nights (the lowest rank of the room type)with my two teens. It was old but well cleaned and the bed was comfortable. I'm a clean freak and check if there are any dusts whenever I stay at the hotels, and the room I stayed was totally clean. Wifi was too slow for youtube and videos but it worked well enough for checking websites and emails. The hot spring was very nice and the food at the restaurants were very good as well. (The drinks were cheap!). If the sky is clear, you can see Northern lights from the right outside of the rooms. I wasn't able to see it but someone showed me pictures that were taken just 3 days prior to my stay and it was amazing! The staff are very friendly and helpful. It was middle of no where but within the resort there was a restaurant, snack bars, cafe and pretty much everything you need. We will stay here again for sure.
Theo room was clean, tho very hot. We waited about 45 minutes for a table in the restaurant but the food came out so quick & it was all amazing. We got wings, crab cakes, a bowl of chowder & shared a huge burger & fries for just over $50 not including tip. The staff was friendly & efficient. We are locals & go here numerous times a year.
