Basic hotel
It’s a 100 year hotel . The room was basic, small, no frills. I was only sleeping there so it met my needs. Restaurants connected to the hotel was also “old school” and perfect for my needs. Good value for the DC area

cleanliness
Room was clean but the common areas and elevator need some work. I realize the hotel is very old but come on, put some money back into the business.

Will never stay here again
I stayed at this hotel for one night and had a very bad experience. The shower would get burning hot at random times without warning. Also, we had to change rooms because there was male bodily fluid on top of the comforter.

Location and price aren't everything
If ever there was a place in need of a gutting/renovation, it's this hotel. I stayed here for my trip to run the Marine Corps Marathon and for the purposes of having a place to put sleep, I guess it worked. Beyond that, it barely functions as a modern facility and it really isn't up to the task of meeting the expectations of today's traveler. Old and worn out plugs, a shower that just barely functioned, good luck adjusting the temperature in your room. It would be a fun archeological experiment to see just how many layers of paint were applied to some of the moldings. And regarding the adjoining restaurant - wow, it was like my presence was an inconvenience to the staff. Food was basically passable and I didn't get food poisoning, so I guess that's a win.

Old School Comfort
There is nothing overtly negative to say about my stay, and no real complaints beyond nitpicky things. It’s an old hotel and you can see that immediately upon entering, which is not without its charm. The location is also perfect as a tourist and you’d be hard pressed to find another spot in town that makes getting around to the major sites easier. Staff was friendly and very helpful when needed! I’d stay here again. Now because it’s an old hotel it means you’ll need to sacrifice some of the basic comfort items for the room. My bed was springy and wobbly, like a firm jello. We ended up pushing it against the wall to prevent some that, and I was fine but every time I rolled in my sleep it woke my partner up. There also weren’t any thermostats in the room. The best is radiators and I’m assuming the AC was the vent in the ceiling with the attached rod to turn on/off. I needed to call the front desk for them to shutoff the heater because of how hot it was (weather was low 40s, high 60s, so hard to balance). There were ceiling fans, but I needed to move a chair to reach the cord. We had a double room and the fan on our side was also not fully attached so even on the lowest setting it wobbled and made too much noise to use. Offsite parking was super easy to use and not expensive for what it was. Garage literally only a block away.

Great location
We stayed in a king room which was a bit cramped probably due to the age of the hotel. The shower head was attached in a strange location that made it hard to shower but again this was probably due to the age of the hotel and plumbing options. We had an electric kettle provided but nowhere to plug it in except on the ground in the hallway area. The location was brilliant, close to a stop for the hop on and hop off bus and even walking distance to most monuments. Close to great dining options as well. We recommend Qdoba Mexican. We stayed 4 nights and our room was only made up once which was disappointing and no effort was made by any of the staff. Loved the history timeline in the lobby.
