Family stay January 2020
We got the feeling that the porters didn’t really want to help us with our luggage out of and into the car. There was no morning paper delivered to our room even though it was promised at checkin. The lock on the door to the courtyard was broken so we couldn’t lock the door. Dinner in downstairs restaurant was poor! However, following a family discussion... the best display of a proper service standard was definitely Kevin who served us during breakfast. He was polite, efficient, knowledgeable and welcoming. Quite frankly, considering the price, if we knew that Kevin no longer worked there then we probably wouldn’t bother returning.

Great lodge but no access to castle
We loved the lodge and the area. It is a great hotel. Guests should be aware that they do not allow you to enter the castle at all even if you are a guest at the lodge. You are only allowed to tour the castle gardens and do the outdoor activities. Disappointed.

2 NIGHT STAY
The Lodge is in a lovely location, it is pet friendly except for dining, dining with an accompanying pet is in the hallway only (gallery as it is called) , which is actually situated on route to the toilets and the main thoroughfare to the lodges with automatic door, very draughty. We got unlucky ,as there was a wedding on the same evening and the thoroughfare was exceptionally busy, with quite a loud crowd, certain guests lying on the couches ,coughing their lungs up and exceptionally strong smelling body gases. But we learned our lesson and left the dog in the room the next evening and dined in Wildes restaurant , and I must say it was excellent. The staff were very pleasant and the food was exceptional, hats off to the chef. The rooms were spotless and quite spacious. Wi Fi in the room was excellent but not so good in other areas of the hotel. Overall we enjoyed our 2 night stay and yes we would stay there again.

You won't be disappointed, one of the worlds best!
Without doubt the best hotel experience we have ever had. The hotel and grounds are spectacular but it's the staff who make this place so special. Look forward to returning again in the future.
