We had a wonderful stay.

Relaxing GEM on the beach with lots of charm!
Older building so don't expect fancy finishes & fixtures but it more than makes up for it in charm! Relaxing w/ def beach vibe & lush landscape. Very large suite w/ tons of drawers, closet space & storage. Fully equipped kitchen saved us $ & having to eat out for every meal. Separate desk area so late night on the computer did not bother sleepers. Bathroom was small & lacked counter space but when you see the size of the shower, you'll know why. Easily fit myself & my 2 kids! Very short walk to the pool, sandy area with private hammocks, picnic tables & BBQ's. Pool was private- not on the street- like most hotels & had natural shade. Located right on the pvt beach w/ free lounge chairs! May be a bit crowded during peak season but plenty of room & chairs every time we went. Set up was a little weird as the parking faced the back door & patio but you could only access the room by the front door which was on the opposite side of the building. Parking was tight with smaller spots & only allowed 1 car per room but pvt patio big enough for 6-8 adults made up for that! Staff was very accommodating & met all our special requests. Very clean & well kept. Few minor quirks like table only sat 3 when we had reservations for 4 people, You could hear the 2nd floor kids running around or talking loudly & the bathroom did not have a venting fan. But the good FAR outweighed the few minor shortcomings.I have stayed at MANY 2-3* hotels & this is one of the best! Will be back!

Right on the beach
Our suite was clean and spacious when we arrived. Balcony was large and faced the pool and ocean. The kitchen was great! One of the only things that bothered me was how hot the large vanity/dressing/shower area was during the day. It was too far away from the a/c wall units, therefore it was very hot and stuffy from sun up to sun down. We did find a couple large palmetto bugs, but hey, it’s Florida. Overall, you can’t beat the location. Right on the beach and just a few blocks from St. Armonds Circle with tons of shops and places to eat. One thing though...the office staff does definitely seem to be on “beach vacation time”. We needed assistance first thing in the morning on our last day and the office lady didn’t show up until almost 20 minutes after their posted office hours.

Hotel is older, but price was great. Issues with beach erosion in front of hotel, but north Lido beach is a very short distance away and has plenty of parking. Hotel was clean and room was spacious. Pool is tiny. For a couple of nights, it’s fine.

Good, but could have been better.
This was the 2nd time we stayed at Coquina in the last 6 months. Booked the same type of room, but it was more expensive (spring break prices) and not as nice (1st floor pool view vs 2nd floor ocean view the 1st time). The beach right near the hotel is also facing serious erosion issues, noticeably changed for the worse in the last 6 months. There is a plan for the county to fix the beach though, so in the future, it should be a lot better
