great stay for a good price
really liked this hotel and the area. it's a very lively neighborhood but the rooms are very quiet with blackout curtains for a good night's sleep. the rooms are in great condition and the amenities are also perfect, including coffee, and a mini speaker in the room. plus a scrub towel, slippers and a robe for bathroom. late checkout at 12.... totally worth the money

Good hotel in a good location. Modern and clean.
Great location for access to the nightlife. Breakfast was average. No room service for coffees. Staff friendly enough and do their best to communicate with varying levels of English. Room AC very dry so must have a separate humidifier type machine running constantly so the air is not too dry.

Clean, convenient, cosy hotel in a vibrant place
Granbell is one of the larger, proper hotels, located in a nestle of discrete love-hotels. The room is somewhat small but cosy. The bed is super comfy, and the bathroom is very clean. They are however, very strict on check-out times, and late check-outs have to be bought by the hour. The nearest train station is actually the Higashi-Shinjuku station (Toei Odeo train line), which is about 5-8mins walk away. It's a little far from JR Shinjuku train station, which could be quite a challenge for 1st time travelers to navigate through. Although the hotel website had a walking guide that could take you from JR Shinjuku station to the hotel within 10 mins, I still got lost in the kabuki-cho area before finally finding the place 25 mins later. The hotel staff are all young with no problems speaking English, and there are quite a few vending machines for drinks/ice-cream/snacks/beer on various floors. There are also 2 washing machines and 1 dryer for guests to share. The vicinity (kabuki-cho) is a colourful district of bars, izayakis, karaoke, convenience stalls... And men's clubs and ladies' clubs. Although these clubs have their bouncers on the streets, they won't push or pull you in. It's a place with very difference facades in the day and in the night. :)
