Nice room. Lovely staff. Rooftop bar is very good.
Good location but not much nice bars or restaurants around
Seedy area, extremely small rooms, and and shabby bar. Not recommended.
Would have been 4 stars, but for lack of wifi and the complete lack of concern from staff. Sorry, but 5 nights without WIFI isn't good enough, and either a discount or some kind of compensation should be offered. We had an economy double at 690AUD for 5 nights - a fair price. Decent modern, and very quiet, room with good bathroom, fridge and kettle. Yes it was small, but there was enough room for our 2 medium size (60l) suitcases). Bring a big case and you'll struggle. On the edge of the red light district - but this is Japan, so take that with a pinch of salt - I was happy walking on my own as a woman, even at night. Can be avoided by approaching via Higashi-Shinjuku metro station. Breakfast ridiculously expensive, but convenience stores within a few minutes walk and a small fridge in the room. A good option if you don't need regular access to wifi.
The hotel room was cosy and very clean. Everything was good, from front desk to answering queries to comfortable room to smooth checking out. The only down side is the area where the hotel is situated. It’s located in the red light district area where there are many pubs and bars therefore it is strongly advised that you do not walk the area alone. It is safe but because it’s really quite poorly lit, it’s better to walk in a pair or bigger group.
The Shinjuku Granbell Hotel was amazing and exceeded anything I could possibly have imagined. The staff were very helpful, approachable and attentive. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and would recommend it to anyone going to Tokyo.
Quiet, loft room, decent size for Tokyo for its price range. Smackbang in the middle of Shinjuku, doesn't really get more convenient than that. Of course, being in a nightlife area as a foreigner means getting stopped and checked by the racist police quite a few times 'stop and search style', but it's usually quite quick. Room was quiet, the city night view great! Curtains don't fully close so room was a bit bright for a light sleeper. Great value for money
The hotel and room were really good except for one thing: the room temperature could not be adjusted low enough and it was too hot to sleep. The window could not be opened. Since being to sleep is an essential part of a hotel experience, I cannot rate the hotel highly.
Very clean rooms, great view, modern style, friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again !
Great location and customer service. The downside was the laundry - there were only 2 washing machines and one dryer available for all guests - not sure if this is because they wanted people to use their hotel laundry services instead? We ended up going to a nearby laundromat. Apart from that it was all good - thanks! We’ll definitely consider staying there again.
