Beautiful site. Unfortunately, dangerous undertow/waves made it impossible to swim in ocean. Food mediocre at restaurant.

Easily the best hotel I have stayed in. Perfect for a relaxing weekend.

We stayed for one week. The hotel is super easy going, the staff is very nice. The food is extremely good and the location of the property is amazing. Kilometers of white sandy beaches, very secluded and relaxing location. It’s great for a week to relax, enjoy beautiful sunrises and sunsets or go for a surf. The massages in the so are exceptionally good. We will come back!

The setting is amazingly beautiful and tranquil, but there isn’t much to do except hang out near pool as the location is isolated. The staff is very friendly and attentive, especially Eric who is terrific. The food is delicious and the drinks go down easy. However I wish there were meat options as the menu is mostly seafood, which I don’t eat due to allergies. With that said, we have been here before, enjoyed being here again, and will be back ASAP.

Beautiful, relaxing place to stay with friendly and accommodating staff. However, it was very hot, and our AC wasn't working. It was finally fixed on our 2nd night. Further, on our 3rd and last night, there was a huge storm, and it knocked out the power so that we had no electricity and no running water. We couldn't use the toilets as they wouldn't flush. Also, we had paid for full board, which included breakfast and dinner. But we were not advised that the included dinner started at 8 p.m., so we were charged for dinner that we had at 7 p.m. But the hotel and its location are breathtakingly beautiful. We just had some bad luck.

The food is to die for! And the place itself is heaven. The staff makes you feel at home. Do not expect AC that works.

How should I start, it is one of those hotels you want to love, but there is this sensation that there is something missing. For the cost; you would expect an out of this world experience, but instead, you end up with a hotel that is trying to do something great, but is missing on the execution. The hotel is secluded, you will need to take a 30 - 40 minute taxi to arrive to their location. Hotel does not provide their own transportation, instead they help you book a taxi with the airport, which will cost you 1,400 mxn, ~70 usd for a roundtrip. I was able to find transportation to and from at a fraction of that cost. If you truly want to be secluded, this is the hotel for you, but be warned that you will be far from the city center and other beaches. It would not be a big issue, but you are solely depended on the hotel to arrive to the main highway since they have this road that is not well kept that makes it difficult to get off the premises. I attempted to walk the road, which is about 1.5 miles from the entrance of the hotel to the main road, but fail short because of the conditions. Luckily, a local gave us a lift to the main road. So if you are trying to see the other beaches or the other great activities Puerto Escondido has to offer, you will either need to make a local connection or depend on the hotel, which will cost you a pretty penny, For example, seeing the bioluminescence phenomenon, it will cost you 1,300 mxn/person, which is about 65 usd. Ran out of space...

Hotel Escondido is simply too notch overall. Ana - the concierge- sent a pre arrival welcome email to ensure everything was set up for us for arrival including the hotels shuttle. This place is a perfect retreat from the busyness of town life. It's rather remote which makes it authentic and beautiful however you'll either need a rental car or to take the hotel shuttle to get to the town about 45 minutes away. Hower we found really no need to go to toe other than one day just to see the other beaches and a different experience. The bungalows are private yet not to far apart and the sheet /bed quality are 4start hotel quality. You are sung to sleep at night by the local birds and frogs. It was a bit of a shock the first night and then I learned to love it. Do get the half board option it is 100% worth it. The breakfast was very good but the dinner was amazing. Yes amazing. Saul the chef makes unique yet tasty experiences every evening. Also, let the hotel schedule the horse back riding and hot spring for you. It is done by a local family who owned several lovely horses and you ride through almost untouched scenery en route to a private hotspring.

The Hotel Escondido is located on a stunning beach about 30 minutes north of Puerto Escondio. We choose this hotel, because we wanted to visit the Casa Wabi Foundation which is neighbouring with the Hotel. The Hotel which belongs to the Habita group, (other beautiful hotels within Mexico) is nestled in beautiful vegetation directly on the beach. We were looking forward to this stay as we wanted to pamper ourselves a bit. Our expectations were not fulfilled. We arrived in our room and the private plunge pool was super dirty, you could not even see the ground. Also the main pool was super cloudy and dirty and bad maintained. The private villas / pavilions are not very well isolated and the air is just blowing through them. Which can be nice to feel the breeze during the night. But in the rainy season which high temperatures and a high humidity you might want to use the AC. The AC in our room did not work at all. No cool air came through the outlet. Also the mattress in the room was very worn out. Haven't slept in a bed of this bad quality for a long time. For a hotel of this category and with this price the hardware was very disappointing. Or lets say not well maintained and need a lift up. The staff was very friendly and supportive. The food in the restaurant had a good quality.

Alexandra y Roberto
