Seagate hotel has a lot to offer! For start Penny and Kate are amazing and if you have any problem with your trip, they will do everything in their hands to help you (and this is amazing). Don't expect a fancy resort, even though they have great facilities. They offer horse riding (we did not do it, but it is good to mentioned). Our room was spacious and had a coffee machine, kitchen, and a small living room. Although the booking had no breakfast included, they offer something for us to eat during the morning (it is not a big breakfast, but it was fair).
This property is close to the ferry pier. Up the hill gives it a great view. The owner is great and very accomodating. Loved the ability to borrow some snorkel gear and not have to rent. Also have horses and riding here too.
I really liked this place. The owner was super friendly and very attentive. I would really come back just to ride the horses. I love Ms. Fuzzy’s story.
Penny, the owner, and her staff are all delightful. It was perfect for our family. You do need to take a taxi up the hill to the hotel and you will need a car or a golf cart. Highly recommend.
We really enjoyed our stay at Sea Gate Hotel. It's a very unique property with a lot of character. Things we enjoyed the most were the panoramic views, the well equipped kitchens, and the enormous furnished patios. The small pool was great for the kids to cool off after a morning at the beach and they loved feeding the horses our leftover fruit. Penny, the owner, made us feel at home from the moment we arrived and she graciously accomodated my mom for a room change so she could be on an upper floor with a better view. We were sad to leave but grateful for the time we had.
Friendly and helpful staff! Owners Penny and Kelly, and staff member Odie, full of great info for activities and dining around the island. Continental breakfast and coffee were a nice addition. Got to feed the horses too. Our deluxe room, the Captains Quarters, was excellent - tv, kitchen, seating area and high speed internet - and a fantastic view of the downtown area and water. Highly recommend.
The views are great and nature is everywhere. The roosters may wake you but the guests and environment were otherwise quiet. The fresh fruit and slightly more upscale continental breakfast were perfect. The coffee is not like the amazing Puerto Rican coffee you can get by walking towards the plaza on your way to the ferry, but it is caffeinated. Also, there is horseback riding and you may catch sight of one of the larger iguanas (gallina de palo) if you walk by the trees areas. However: Recommend with the understanding that many of the popular places to eat and drink along with the bay tours will be a 15 minute cab drive away which is $5 per person each way if you use a reputable service. We used the main Taxi service. Some bio ay tours will collect you at the hotel and drop you off after AND have a see through kayak bottom so it may not matter to you.
Had some very nice little touches in the room that made our stay more comfortable.
Penny was so nice. We missed our ferry and arrived after midnight, but she waited for us anyway. The hotel located in a really nice area, you can spot the ocean by the entrance gate. They have a nice reputation and relationship with other local business like taxi company, which made our transportation on the island fairly convenient (we were not able to rent a car due to peak season). There was a bench outside our room where we would sit and have breakfast every morning. It was like a little backyard, with horses on the other side of the fence! Fun to see all the iguanas and the roosters in the yards of the property too. Would love to stay here again! Only wish it would be a longer vacay.
Lovely cozy hotel in beautiful island. Penny was very nice to greet us and walk us thru the room and facility. morning breakfast was not so great but not much we can expect in the island. my kids enjoyed feeding the horses and played with them.
