Furnished Apartment in city center - not for cars!
This a an apartment in the mostly pedestrian city center. The owner is partially disabled at this time but seemed like a very nice person. He was not able to provide the provide the breakfast promised but refunded us 10 Euros. Our time was short so this was kind of a pain. Otherwise, the apartment had most necessary needs. Apartment is on second floor. The bedroom and bathroom is another flight up. This apartment is about 7 minutes from the main train station as we understand it. IF YOU ARE DRIVING A CAR, FORGET THIS HOTEL! The city center is very car-unfriendly and parking is expensive at 36 Euros per night. The hotel recommendation is to park in an area outside of the city center and take a train in. Parking there is 4 Euros/night and the train ticket is free. We had a tight schedule for the next day so we were limited to the expensive park house which was supposed to be secure. Our car was broken into that night. It is also necessary to contact the apartment owner the day of arrival to arrange for the key. If you are travelling by train this is a fully furnished apartment in the city center.

I booked this place on Hotels.com in the hope of having a romantic weekend. I have to say that when I was booking it there was no explicit information that the place is a bed&breakfast (it was portrayed as a 4star property!!). The trouble started as soon as we arrived. First with finding the place (as we were looking for a proper sign). Finally we found a small note that showed that door is the place, but no one was there. The note said to get the keys from a nearby shop, but that shop was closed! (The owner of the B&B did not bother to provide the information about getting the key in advance). We called the number on the note. The owner said that he is in hospital for long time and that is why who is not there. He told us to go to another shop to get the keys. We walked to the other shop but the owner had no clue about the key. She walked us back to the initial shop were finally someone opened the candy shop door and passed us the keys. Also we were told that there is no breakfast and we will be compensated for that (compensation never happened). On the plus side the flat was clean and very central. It was just a pity that the owner's poor communication and the misrepresentation of the property ruined the experience

Best choice for staying in Utrecht
This is a 1-bedroom very cozy apartment in the center of Utrecht, less than a 10-min walk from the Central Train Station. It has a full kitchen, a great convenience, especially since a supermarket is less than 100 yards from the front door. The owner, Hans, took great care of us and even gave us a town tour the evening of our arrival. Breakfasts were great, far more food than we could consume. Utrecht old town is very pretty and charming, far more so than Amsterdam, and with a lot fewer tourists.

Fun and funky B&B downtown Utrecht
Fun and funky B&B in downtown Utrecht. Had to pick up key from candy store on corner. Typical Dutch house with steps up to modern kitchen and large living room. It's another flight up to bedroom and bath/shower. Good option for several days, near University and train station. Had difficulty finding its small street by car. Better on foot/bike.

Nothing good but the location
Everything but the location is terrible about this property. From filthy floors, paint chips, mounds of dust, mold in the bathroom to very steep stairs, you named it. It was not safe to stay there especially for children. No doors to the bedroom and no door knob on the front door. Not safe and not cleaned. After finding this property in this conditions we felt it was not safe to stay there so we had to find another place to stay.

Great apartment, great location
Excellent location; easily accessible from the train station and in the heart of the action. Can't comment about the breakfast as my schedule didn't allow me to take advantage of it. The apartment was big, clean and comfortable, with a fully-equipped kitchen.

Good place to stay
Very nice host. Wonderful breakfast. Excellent place which is close to the train station and a lot of restraunts and shops. Remember to bring your travel plug adapter if you come from non-European country.
