Dates idea of luxury
The building itself is really beautiful and the views of the city from the hill are quite stunning. Service was generally good but not up to the standards of every other hotel in this price range we visited in Spain. We were put in a really small corner room (which is fine) but discovered the first night it was on the same floor as a banquet hall they rented out until 2am for a 18 year old’s birthday party (wish I was friends with THAT kid in high school). The party was extremely loud and could be easily heard in the room. While the hotel was gracious about moving us, I question why they would book us in the first room in the first place. Everywhere else we stayed (comparable level hotels), it felt like the staff went out of their way to be kind and helpful; here, did not feel the same. Not a huge deal, but at this level, these niceties should matter. Rooms themselves are again quite small with subpar bedding and amenities. While we appreciated the beautiful inlays and tiling, at some point we expect high end comfort. Next time we visit Granada, we’ll likely stay closer to city center as this location is somewhat isolated, with hotel factors like room service ending at 11pm compounding some of the inconvenience. Overall, this hotel feels like the epitome of “old world” luxury, but not up to par for the highest standards of modern jetsetters.
