To be fair, it was advertised that there was significant construction happening in front of the hotel, and they provided complimentary drink certificates as a gesture. It wasn’t such a big deal as I was out sightseeing during the day while construction was happening. I did hear a lot of noise through the night on the weekend however, which seemed to be either drunk tourists or crazy people yelling at all hours. Would recommend you ask for a room that does not front onto the main square/construction.

The intercontinental was amazing. This is our second time we stayed here, and the staff and facilities are top notch. However, because of the construction in front of the hotel I would not stay there or anywhere in that area until the construction is complete. It was noisy, they work all night. The traffic around there was horrific and time consuming to just park at the hotel.

This is an exception hotel, which is across the street from the Sao Bento train station, which made it easy to take day trips. The hotel rooms are some of the nicest with its old-world charm are among the best we have ever had. The breakfast is superb as is the staff. This hotel is close to shopping and some outstanding restaurants. We are so happy to have experienced this hotel.
