I got the “city view”: one of the most charming views from a hotel window I’ve had in years, admittedly not of the Bund (!) but a delightful sparkling avenue on a more human scale, still lit up for Christmas (no one told the Chinese how quickly that stuff comes down after Dec 25). In a pedestrian friendly area, easy access to Shanghai metro as well as a smaller railway station with some intercity service (not to be confused with Hongqiao which is the gigantic, long-distance hub), plus a good selection of Western-friendly quick eats and cafes right within sight, plus the hotel bar has an adequate menu that’s not requiring the big splurge like a fancy restaurant or an all you can eat buffet. Hotel staff were pleasant and spoke English well. This was by far my favorite hotel in my 3 weeks in China. I was only here for one night but I was a little sad to leave. Room service “Asian breakfast” (ordered for 1) had enough for 3 people, kind of ridiculous but clearly the hotel wanted to be certain no one could complain about going hungry!

Great stay away from hustle and bustle. Super smooth sheets!! Helpful staff with good English Super clean rooms, amazing fresh smell in the air. When asked to turn up heat was instantly sorted. Brought extra blankets and heater. Tea in reception although we didn’t make use of it.

Staffs are courteous and helpful, speak English very well, had no problems to communicate. Room is clean, roomy and comfortable, definitely will come back to this hotel in the future if we visit Shanghai.
