6/10 Good

I would give this place a solid 3.5 stars
The iberostar was nice but definitely not 5 stars. What was confusing for me when booking was the difference between the different iberostars that were all in the same area. What I discovered is that paraiso beach and del mar are basically the same resort that share amenities. The Grand paraiso and Lindo seemed to be more upscale with better amenities.
The room was very nice with a large shower and we got a balcony. It was very clean and there was not a single bug .
The resort amenities were ok, the pool was very big and had 2 swim up bars however what I did not realize is that you have to claim yourself a chair by 8am the latest or you will not have anywhere to sit for the entire day. The beach was very nice and was shared with the other iberostar properties.
The entertainment was lacking. They did shows at night but I found most to be pretty boring. If you wanted good entertainment there were paid shows they offered for $35 per person.
They were constantly trying to sell you something whether it was their shows at night, excursions or even family photos, which I found to be annoying when you're on a vacation trying to relax.
Finally the food, what I was looking most forward to. The buffet was ok, not great and got old after a while. The restaurants were pretty good. Unfortunately I did get food poisoning on one night from a burger and my boyfriend got the montezumas revenge which we still aren't what it was from because we only drank their purified water that they had.
