Comfortable and well located hotel
Simple, clean and comfortable room. I stayed for 7 days. Super well located and within walking distance of most sites. Super friendly and helpful staff. Would absolutely stay here again.

Good hotel, just not when it is hot weather.
The hotel is a beautiful building in a good location. It is understandable that a building of that period does not have A/C, however, when it is over 30C outside, there should at least be a fan in the room. I have no idea what material the pillows and duvet were made of, but they were more suited to Arctic conditions and not the height of summer. (Sweaty and very uncomfortable.) The breakfast was good.

This hotel is in a great location. Walking distance to lots of excellent restaurants and shops. The hotel is in desparate need of a facelift. The rooms are extremely dated. Chocolate brown carpeting. Toilet in a room quite a distance from where the bedroom area is. Long dark hallway from bed area to the toilet room. The breakfast was very nice in the morning with lots of selection and friendly staff. Overall good experience. If they spent some money on fixing up the place it has the potential to be excellent. Weird tall vases in hallway with awful plastic fake flowers. Very small television. I could go on.......but at the end of the day great location, friendly staff, great location and reasonably priced with a nice breakfast.

I would give it 3 stars
great location, we were on top floor, vent in ceiling made a noise all night, worse if windy outside. beds were very soft had to ask for teabags, they were never checked on a daily basis bathroom mirror light, bulb required replacing which was not done during our stay lights attached to bed were not dusted properly All the above can be addressed and resolved fairly quickly, housekeeping lacking, should have a check list. It should not be up to the guest to inform the hotel.

Great Hotel; Poor Room
The staff was very informative and friendly. Service we requested was excellent. The hot and cold breakfast buffet was great. Our "Deluxe" room, however, was a major disappointment. The bed was so close to the bathroom that we could only open the door an 1/8 of way, and walk in sideways. The interior wooden beams on the other side were also so close that we could not walk around the bed. And the shower stall had no shelves at all to place soap, shampoo, razors, etc. So they went on the floor. Extremely poorly designed room. Would strongly recommend booking a "Superior" room instead.

Alkmaar 'Little Amsterdam'
If you like Amsterdam you will definitely love Alkmaar (aka lil' Amsterdam). Been to Alkmaar several times it has everything that the big city has. The hotel is located in the heart of the town, a very short walking distance to the bars, restaurants, canals, tourist attractions and to the nearby railway station. The hotel was good choice very reasonable price, very clean, good sized rooms with large bathrooms with all associated facilities. A good choice of hotel.. Recommended ++++
