Good location makes up for shortcomings
The hotel is very handy for the bus stop into Bath, which is its main plus. It's good to have parking on the premises. (I had to allow a reserve on my credit card "because I'd booked through Expedia".) Be warned that the hotel drive is adjacent to the toll bridge. If you approach from the north you don't need to pay the toll but, at busy times (school run and workers) you might have to queue with the toll-payers until you can get access to the drive. The bedroom was OK, if a bit cramped. The main issue was the queen-size mattress on a double or king-size bed, meaning two people sleeping had less room than was necessary. Buffet breakfast was good but, if you didn't want a fry up, the cereals etc was very limited. There is a restaurant and we ate there on each of our 3 nights, but I have a lot of issues with it and, in future, I would walk over the bridge to the pub to eat, or go to the nearby village. The arrangement between the hotel and restaurant was peculiar - you could book a table, but then had to pay as you leave because it was a different account, or something. I won't say more here about the restaurant (more on another review site), but focus on the hotel. The staff were mostly friendly and helpful. One issue was the reserve on the CCard - I emailed ahead twice to book parking and a table, with prompt replies. I emailed twice later to ask for the CCard reserve to be removed and got no response. (The reserve came off automatically a month later.)
