The resort is VERY dated, the pictures of the pool area are very misleading. The 2bd unit we had was dark, old and no hot water.
This resort is truly a hideaway, perfect for families on vacation. My husband and I brought our 2 kids (11 & 13) for 3 nights. It is not a traditional hotel, but separate villas along the beachfront. Our villa had a bedroom with 2 beds, one full bathroom, one half bathroom, and a living room/kitchen/dining area. The dining area had a small refrigerator and microwave as well as a sink and dishes that were available to use. The location is excellent, about 20 minutes drive from the airport. Hideaways arranged our transportation to and from the airport in a nice taxi for $36 each way. The location is also 10 minutes’ walk to to the fish fry which has several good seafood restaurants to choose from. 5 minutes’ walk in the other direction brings you to Jolly Hall beach, which is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. If you prefer to stay in the resort, there is also a gorgeous beach front there as well as a pool. There is an on site restaurant which was ok, but we vastly preferred the restaurants at the fish fry. One last tip- if you or your family are big on snacking, try to bring some snacks in your suitcase. There is a free shuttle to George Town which has a bank and grocery store, but everywhere in the Bahamas you will pay a premium for basic groceries. My family will definitely be back here to experience Exuma again!
The location was great, however the food was terrible, only good thing on the menu was the conch fritters 😒
This is not a typical hotel. Some of the staff was nice and helpful. This review is more on the hotel and the Amenities. I would say this was more of an air bnb sort of hotel. The villa was old and outdated (maybe a good place to stay if you’re passing by and need a night or two to rest your head). The internet connections never worked, there is no telephone in the room to call the front desk nor if there was an emergency. Lobby closes from 8am-9pm everyday and the Resturant as well. So if you didn’t eat dinner you would have to starve until they open at 8am the next day. There was no security guard so I felt if any thing happened, we wouldn’t know how to call for help but they give you a binder with phone numbers to call but what if our phones didn’t work out there? We would of been screwed. Transportation isn’t easy, we have to sign up everyday if we wanted a shuttle and it runs every two hours starting at 9am to 5pm. If you missed then you have to take a taxi. Our first day, we didn’t have hot running water. The food at the restaurant was not even edible.
I always have a great time there. It’s easy. The staff is fantastic
Great location, good amenities, staff in office were helpful and attentive to requests. Restaurant staff was very slow with an attitude at times. Food was good, pina coladas were great!
The property itself was OK. It wasn't anything spectacular and this review would have been at least a little better it not for the abysmal customer service provided by the front desk staff. Since this site limits my review to a certain number of characters I can't go into as much detail as I did on another popular trip advising review site. I'd suggest you look for my full review there. Basically the front desk staff lied to us about having checked on water taxi service on Christmas Day, which caused us to lose a day of our vacation. They also very frequently did not have clean towels. We will not return to Hideaways.
The staff was very nice and helpful with all my questions and needs, besides the WiFi being in and out everything was great. Would definitely recommend
We loved being right on the water of a beautiful cove.....there were beautiful reefs to snorkel to and the gazebo next door provided a great place to see lots of aquatic life up close - including a turtle. The staff was constantly working around the grounds - everything was freshly painted and all the landscaping beautifully manicured. They raked the beach every day to remove seaweed making it look beautiful all the time. It was very obvious how much care goes into the facility. It was just beautiful.
This property was nice. We stayed in the 3 bedroom villa. The rooms were clean. The entire villa was very spacious and fit my family of 7 perfectly. The only negative I have about this location is the poor service at the on site Splash restaurant. The wait staff is not pleasant AT ALL (except for the woman who had her young daughter around). They did not greet us, no pleasantries, no Thank yous, barely any eye contact at times. I know that usually when staff isn't happy, management is the culprit. Nevertheless, Exuma is a such a beautiful place and people go there to relax and unwind so not being treated well by wait staff in the only restaurant on the premises was disheartening. Also, they were out of basically everything on the menu. Anytime we sat down to place an order, the waitress started by telling us all the items they did not have. That was very frustrating. Their menu options are limited too. Very limited traditional dishes. By our third time attempting to eat there, we just got up and left and only returned there for breakfast in the mornings because it was included with our stay. The staff at the front desk was very nice. One woman went out of her way to share local restaurants for us to patronize. She even set up our cabs and everything. Belle who works on the premises was also very nice. She always stopped by to say hello and make small talk and to see if we were ok. Overall it gets 4 stars. Would have been 5 if not for the awful Splash Bar and Grill servers.
