Lovely, friendly staff.

I was not blown away with my stay at Holiday Inn, Haydock. As i entered my room, i thought the window was wide open as it was so cold in the room. On checking the window i noticed it was closed. I turned on the heating and it was not working. I told reception but was content to remain there over night as id unpacked all my belongings and was tired. The next day after a full days work i came back to realise the heating was still not working. I informed reception and they did change my room. I moved into the room and noticed that the main light was not working. Luckily there was enough lamps in the room to illuminate it enough during the evening. The staff were very friendly and it was great that the hotel was still serving food over the COVID lockdown period (so it wasn't all bad). However, the thing that annoyed me most of all is that when i returned home on the Friday i had received a parking ticket for parking at the hotel. They did have the parking touch screen monitors at reception but i was never asked to input my details. I didnt find this strange as i thought they might be out of use due to COVID restrictions and i also put down my registration number on the 'check-in' paperwork. So i am not trying to appeal the parking fine.

Hairs in the bed. Shower was scorching hot Key didn’t work 3 times!!!! Very annoying after a long day of driving. Staff were very good. Food overpriced.

Overall, happy with our stay. The food in the restaurant was ok, nothing exceptional but again felt the whole experience was impacted by the restrictions in place at the moment. For what we paid, I felt the quality wasn’t great. Breakfast was a bit better, the staff a bit more friendly and engaging. Staff are trying really hard and it does make a difference in difficult circumstances. It may just be me, but I feel this hotel (and possibly Holiday Inns in general), seem to be getting closer to the HI Express hotel set up rather than being a clear notch above. Especially as this one was obviously recently refurbished.

Difficult to give a fair opinion given the many Covid restrictions in place. Check in was very poor with absolutely no information given regarding requirements,ordering meals etc. Barely a smile. Everything had to be ordered by phone /Ipad using the in house system which really wasn't that user friendly. The so called Executive room was tiny with the smallest bathroom we have ever used! Food was pretty good and the bar/restaurant staff helpful. The hotel is clearly in the early stages of how they deal with the Covid restrictions, so hard to be fair. Check out was very good with a extremely helpful young lady.

A great place to stay close to the M6. We had previously used Travelodge, but for the same price you can get this Holiday Inn with a pool, reasonable restaurant, and good sized room. Their Covid precautions were good also.

Great location for visits in and out of both Manchester and Liverpool. Comfy an roomy bedrooms. Made use of the swimming pool (well sectioned and lightly populated due the the current unpleasantness). Enjoyed an excellent evening meal for one of our four nights. Only negative would be the cost of the breakfasts - way too expensive. Maybe ok for businessmen who can claim expenses back, but way too much for a family group of five.

Just one night on a journey - but extremely welcoming, comfortable and attractive. Reassuringly clean (as expected) and with very good, well considered and implemented - but not obtrusive - covid measures. Exceptionally helpful and friendly staff. We'll be back..
