Barceló Maya Palace - All Inclusive

Amazing

Very good experience. It is not our first time in this hotel. We loved the beach, the room but I would recommend to expand food choices Last year we loved grilled fish that was available at lunch and dinner. However, this year it was not available at all. Also, the salad bar should have more options. Overall, we had a great time and would love to come back again. Hopefully without mendated COVID restrictions. Thank you for the great vacation despite this difficult times.

The property is amazing and extremely clean, the staff makes sure the property is always in top quality.

Great pools and great service staff. Currently only 3 of their resorts are open and if you stay here you are only allowed to use this one and the Colonial and not the adults only resort.

I thought the resort had excellent procedures in place for dealing with covid. Getting off the shuttle our luggage was sanitized, we had our temperature taken and presented with hand sanitizer upon entering the hotel. This procedure was repeated before entering any of the dining facilities, and masks needed to be worn. We actually felt safer at the resort, than back home in the states. Food was excellent, and all the staff went out of their way to please. Poolside and at the beaches you could lose the mask and enjoy the multiple activities available (swimming, sailing, paddleboard, volleyball, water yoga, snorkeling, etc.). We also enjoyed a VR experience in the main pool where your floating in the pool with a snorkel and VR goggles traveling through the Space Station, Skydiving, and Deep sea diving...very cool experience!! The grounds of the hotel were well manicured, the beach offered a wonderful view of the sunrise peeking above above the horizon, and the hotel was beautifully lit a night for extra ambience.

They wanted to charge me more money because I made a reservation for 4. They claimed only 3 can be in the room. Also our wristbands never worked...they are the key to the room and even after walking 30 minutes to the front desk and 30 minutes back they never worked so we spent over an hour, on top of the hour walk, outside our room. We were only there for one night and they never got the keys/wristbands correct.

We were upgraded upon arrival from Palace to Adults Only. We were glad to be away from kids but disappointed there wasn’t much entertainment at the adults only. A few pool side activities and every night was so boring for us honestly with bingo and super old music and everybody just sitting there staring at each other. When we tried to reserve a restaurant from another resort we were told we couldn’t by the lady in guest services! I was upset about this because it’s one of the reasons we chose Palace in the 1st place was to have more food options. The buffet had almost the same food every day. Traveling to the other resorts by bus was over a 20 minute wait each time, much faster to just walk! On a positive note the staff was very attentive and friendly and the resort was very clean! Gorgeous beach and best snorkeling.

Hotel is a 2 star-hotel maximum. Food in buffet is terrible. Reservations for dinner in specialty restaurants are imposible to make, restaurants are fully booked one week earlier. Barceló has 6 hotels together in the complex with different rates and they allowed guests from lower rates to stay in higher rates hotels.
