First, the manager very graciously help get the baggage to the room but the room put me into shock. First, it was very poor made, very dark, and extremely small with the amount of furniture. Second, the bathroom is in need of great repair. Third, and the most important, was that my pillow and probably the entire bed is infiltrated with bedbugs. This cost some medical expenses plus put a damper on my very first cruise. Too bad because the Hotel Viger could have been a very quaint stop for future visitors.
Very good location and the rest is better than what we expected based on the rate.
We didn’t have any major problems, but I think we would shell out for a more expensive hotel next time. Our room was very cold, and the continental breakfast isn’t really a breakfast. It consists of a croissant and tea. Good price for the location, however, and very helpful and accommodating staff.
Went for Pokemon Go Safari. Picked the right place, so close to everything I needed. Perfect distance to the Metro and other things I wanted to check out. I wasn't in the room to much because of the event, but it serves it's purpose. The AC helped cool me down after walking all day. The bed made it easy to sleep. The washroom was a bit small, but that's my problem, not theirs. Shower water pressure was perfect. Any other issues I had were external and not really their problem, i.e traffic noises, etc.
Stayed one night. Woke up covered in bedbug bites. Avoid.
Great location. Although breakfast was basic, we enjoyed it. Shower was great, rooms clean & staff very helpful!
I have gone to Hotel Viger for years. Even though the rooms are small I like the cost and location. Unfortunately on my recent visit I obtained numerous welts all over my body from bedbugs. At first I thought I had a mosquito bite but every night it got worse and the welts were large. I didn’t tell the owner since due to some reviews I recently read indicates that people have told him of the problem. I will probably go back there again but I will bring a couple cans of bedbug spray and douse everything I’m the room. I’ll also spray myself down with insect repellant. I’m currently scratching the welts because they itch really bad. I’m also formulating a plan of what to do with my luggage so that I do not infect my house with bed bugs.
Great location and level walk to metro (montreal has hills). Old building, old furniture, older bathroom fixture, and budget room that is well maintained. Intelligent people run this place and are very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Breakfast had giant croissant, coffee and oj on tray they give you that you can eat in dining area or bring to your room. Cheaper and more private than airbnb room in someone's condo.
The Viger was easy to find and convenient to much of downtown Montreal. The staff are friendly and were OK that I was an hour early for check-in. The room was big enough and the mattress was firm and comfy. I had no issues with noise from the street or inside the hotel. The A/C could have been a little colder but it was ok to sleep. The hotel is pretty no frills for amenities which is fine for me as I have no need of extras. There is, of course, tv and wi-fi though I never made use of either. There was plenty of hot water and good pressure. I'd stay here again.
It is a very old building, and the interior is showing its age. The walls have chips and scuff marks. The handrail for the main stair case literally is secured with duct tape. Our room was way too small for two beds. One of the beds was extremely close to the wall, so walking to the bathroom was difficult. You can't use the AC and hairdryer at the same time, or you will blow the fuse for the room. Bathroom fixtures were a bit old and rusty. On the positive side, the staff was friendly and the location is very close to a couple of Metro station, including the main hub.
