Hotel room is basic but clean. Buffet breakfast is awesome. Walkable and close to bus station. It's a good bargain and I recommend this hotel.

This hotel is nicely situated near a community park and elementary school. It has 12 stories and a top communal deck that houses 2 bee hives and of course honey combs. The rooms are modern and lean close to the small size. We are people of 5’5” size and the rooms feels a little tight. The view is sufficient as it overlooks the park the city with its’ many buildings. This hotel was several blocks away from the main bus and train station which if I walked it at my own pace, would be about 10-12 minutes. We took longer due to the pace of my older mother-in-law. Uber is not an option in Slovenia. The breakfast buffet was good with the many selections. There are many people in this hotel and the selections they have was perfect. It was 10💶 per person extra, which was not included in our checkout via Orbitz. We also had to pay the hotel/VAT tax for all the hotels we stayed at (just FYI). The amenities were sparse here besides the dining area such as for the breakfast and a la carte dining times. There was no pool or sauna that was recommended or seen in the hotel booklet. The front desk was a matter of fact with little to no smile. English was spoken fine with no issues. Overall, this is a fair option for the budget conscious person and who may not mind the lack of amenities the hotel provides.

Good location, but no castle view
We arrived early (noon) for check in, and understandably, were told to come back as check in was at 3, as they had 115 people to check out/clean rooms. The staff person directed us to a parking ramp near by. He said it was less expensive than street parking (which had to be paid every 4 hours @ 1.4 euros/hour). We left our luggage (locked area), and came back at 3. A woman was at the desk, and she said our room wasn’t ready and we had to come back at 3:30 or 4…as they had 115 people to check out. At the same time, another staff person was negotiating a room rate with a walk-in, and they got a room right away. When another young couple came in (without a reservation), and were getting a room I started to complain. Bingo, our room magically was ready. Low and behold…not a cleaning person in site to ‘ready our room’. So…check in was not pleasant. I had booked a room with a ‘castle view’ over 6 months prior. See the photo of what the view was like lying in our bed, and the main view from our window of the building next door. We had to stand in the opposite corner of the room and stretch to see a view of the castle out our window. Take any other view but the castle one! Also, the parking ramp was $28 for 20 hours just FYI

Great staff, great location.
The hotel staff and location is what makes this such a great place to stay. The beds are on the firm side and the breakfast buffet is pretty limited, however it's a short walk away from the heart of Old Town and there are many restaurants in the area. As an added bonus you have the option to get fresh honey from the bee hives on the roof.
