Comfortable and Relaxing
The Cascade cabin was fantastic! Really homey cabin with kitchen supplies. They even left a fruit tray, eggs, milk and OJ in the fridge! We woke up to a deer family in the yard every morning. Very peaceful in the early morning or late evening but it was a tad close to a major road so you can hear vehicles during the day. Not a huge issue but thought I would note it. I will absolutely stay here again when I am back in Colorado.

A Few Simple Touches Can Improve this Quaint Place
Beatiful location, fun quaint cabins, gorgeous trees in the area, and a great place for a low-key family gathering or wedding. From past reviews, I knew the place needed upgrades (no AC, worn carpet, some outside lights not working, etc.) and was prepared for that. However, there were very simple things that could have been done to improve the overall quality that were not done: refridgerator not plugged in & cold when we arrived, no hand towel in bathroom, only one table knife in drawer, no top sheet on bed (important during warm nights), and no instructions for when (TV) Netflix disconnected from WiFi. Also some of the photos on the website do not match the actual rooms or furniture in the rooms; website photos need updating. If we'd been warned, we could have brought our own hand towels, top sheet, etc. Also, the Black Bear Pass cabin room needs a warning that the whole cabin is open at the top & thus TV noise travels straight to the bedrooms. If we had been warned about that, we could have chosen a different room where this does not occur. Just a few simple touches and more information about each room could make a world of difference for this lovely place.

Perfect Hotel for Elbert Horse Shows
I booked a room at the Black Forest Lodge for a horse show that was in Elbert. Anyone familiar with the area knows that there isn't much (especially in the way of lodging) up that way. I was fortunate enough to book early and got a room at the Black Forest Lodge. I was pleasantly surprised when I checked in. The area was beautiful and was a quick 15 min drive from Latigo Equestrian Center. I stayed in the Independence Trail which was more of a cabin. It was very cozy and even had Netflix. The staff was very accommodating and put a fold out bed in the living room of the cabin for a girlfriend who had decided to join last minute. Overall I recommend. It's not the Four Seasons, but it's clean, quiet, cozy, helpful/courteous staff, and area is pretty.

Good little lodge
Nice little lodge. Would’ve liked to have known when it said two twin beds that they were bunk beds but not a deal breaker. Clean. Close to where we needed to be. They were prompt in letting us in for the night at the time we agreed to meet as well.

I can't wait to spend time there again!
It was incredible. If you're looking for high end amenities this probably isn't for you but if you're looking for a warm and cozy place this is it. It's a bit rustic but that is what makes it so great. The views are incredible and the public spaces were inviting and comfortable. If I have one complaint it is the moth problem. They're pretty innocuous most of the time but it's noticeable. Still, the charm of this place overcomes that issue easily.
