Worst experience in any hotel in years! Street in front of hotel pick-marked like a bombed-out street in Beirut. Big pieces of concrete prevented safe parking. In the lobby four people behind desk had their own “meeting” going, and there was no interaction with guests walking up, very surly attitudes. I had to talk loud over the cacaphony of non-sense to get their attention. There were no bellmen; I had to schlep our bags upstairs on a rickety cart. I asked for a taxi to get us to Busch Stadium, but they said to use an Uber app or walk. The elevators were old, and only one was in operation for guests; pretty slow for a 12-story hotel. There was no closet in the room, just hooks on a wall. Cheap vinyl flooring that was cold and slippery. Beds were okay, but not the best. There were no cups, glasses or bottled water in the room. There were stains and messes on the main floor, but no urgency to clean them up. The harried, white manager in sweaty shirt sleeves barked out orders to his African-American staff like a Missouri plantation master. We were celebrating a birthday and an anniversary and wanted a luxury hotel experience in downtown St Louis. Instead, we got a yuppie, psuedo-environmental hostel that felt like it was operated by IKEA! Total disaster for our lofty expectations!
