INCREDIBLE. We celebrated our anniversary + babymoon here and couldn’t have had a better experience. The staff is beyond friendly, attentive and helpful. Shout outs to Roque, Johnathan, Robert and Joseph. We took advantage of the common areas, enjoying morning coffee, breakfast, reading, and cocktails by the fireplace. We even ended up having our photographer come for our maternity snaps when rain came. Very comfortable bed, and I am particular in general but esp at 30 wks pregnant. Will return! So close to beach (1 easy block) and in the midst of beautiful residential homes.

The best place to stay in Carmel!!
We had the absolute best stay at Villa Mara!! Dev and his staff were extremely hospitable and made everything easy and enjoyable. You really feel like you’re staying at a friend’s luxury home. The property is gorgeous, rooms very comfortable and updated, cocktails and breakfast each morning all delicious, and location was perfect. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this hotel. 10/10 recommend if you’re heading to Carmel!!!

The property is very nice, but severely overpriced for what it is. For example, several rooms are literally directly off the main (common) lounge area. As a result, poor sound privacy if you are in your room with a partner (putting this delicately), unless you don't mind putting on a show, or keeping quiet like you are in your parents' basement :-) It's like being in an "upscale" youth hostel. The service is excellent and friendly, but a bit doting and unnecessary. I can get my own hot water etc. The rooms themselves are spartan -- no filtered water supply (ask the doting service for that). No way to warm leftovers (but fortunately a small fridge is in the room). Really minimalist at this price point. Fancy soap in the bathrooms (big deal). Sorry to be such a buzzkill :-)

The location is stunning, nearly across the street from the shoreline. My room, one of the cheaper options, was clean, classy and relaxing. The layout of the common parts of Villa Mara are interesting, making it so that you can socialize with other guests freely or keep to yourself. These are a couple of outdoor fire-pits, and a large gathering room with a bar, tables and a cozy fireplace. Best of all, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel at home. I was taken aback by how genuinely kind they are. Plus, they offered me drinks and chocolates as I sat up reading by the fire at night. What's not to love? I truly could not have asked for more. This place is something special.

Amazing experience staying at Villa Mara. The attention to detail is incredible. The staff couldn’t have been better. The breakfast and daily menus are a perfect touch. Less than a 2 minute walk to the gorgeous beach. I could go on and on. We loved our 3 night stay and will be back.
