Barceló Maya Tropical - All Inclusive

The beach was the most beautiful white sand. The resort is one of possibly 5 all next to each other under the Barcelo name. This was one of the less fancy. Wasn’t thrilled with the buffet food and hard to get into the specialty restaurants. The room was nice and comfortable.

Staff was excellent. Temperature checks at all restaurants during COVID. Very clean and nice place. We stayed during a tropical storm and a hurricane in one week. The pace still served food and had the pool and beach cleaned up the next day.

We stayed only two nights instead of eleven nights due to Coronavirus. They did not refund for nine nights and made us stupid. Very bad customer service in that situation.

All amenities were amazing and huge, and there is a lot of stuff to do!.A lot of restaurants with many options available, a mini market for shopping, you can practice sports (diving, snorkel), have a walk by the incredible beach. The staff always very nice and helpful. Rooms very spacious and clean. 10 / 10! Definitely we will come back.

We were upgraded to the Adults Only section it was a fantastic stay!

The property was beautiful, everything was well kept up with. Food was a lot better this time around. The downfall was that we were surprised once we got there that everyone from ages 18-23 had to pay a $500 deposit that we did get back due to spring break. We were not made aware of this before hand. We also book to stay at tropical, as we had been there before and knew that this was where we would have the most fun as we all are in our early 20's. Once getting there they did not know where we were supposed to stay because they did not have a room for us. So they said they upgraded us to Barcelo Maya beach. This was upsetting because we wanted to be where we booked at. Once we were taken to beach, they told us we were not there either and that we were upgraded to the adults only resort, Barcelo maya riviera. Yes, it was absolutely beautiful and amazing, but very boring there as everyone was much much older than us and nothing fun was going on. We felt judged by the guests there, so we walked down the beach to the other parts of the resorts everyday. Check in took hours because we were taken to three different parts of the resort. Very disappointed, as our original stay back in May was much easier. We did end up making the most of the stay and I appreciate them trying to fix their over booking issue by upgrading our room, but that is not what we booked and we wanted to be around people our age at Tropical.

This property is brand new and the service was wonderful. Staff was simply amazing and everything was clean . The staff works really hard and still have a smile in their faces. They provide amazing service without expecting anything in return. We were upgraded since we have been there three times. We got clean towels twice a day . The night shows are excellent and their pool party is so much fun . There are several restaurants to choose from and that really made it easier for us to always plan our meals. I’m sure going back next year with my family .
