Service Versus Amenities
The desk clerk made an extra special effort to find how we could watch Stanley Cup Finals on their television! The facility was very clean, a nicely remodeled historic building. I would not have been able to get into the claw foot bathtub to shower without help. Lots of stairs, no elevator gave us lots of exercise! Food at nearby sister hotel was very good and reasonably priced.

The jewel in the Sierra Nevada's crown
What a fantastic find, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left Connie and her grand daughter Taylor made our stay an experience we will never forget. You are treated as one of the family and have the run of the house. After arriving we sat outside and were entertained by all the hummingbirds feeding on one of the many feeders Connie has set up all around the house. If you love nature then this is the area for you as along with the hummingbirds we saw blue jays, kilbeys and heard the screech owl who lives in a nearby tree. The friendliness and service are fantastic as is the communal breakfast where Connie bakes her own fritatta and biscuits (like English scones but far far better). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this jewel of a B&B to anyone who find themselves within traveling distance as you will never forget a unique experience.

Be informed before staying here
Not sure why this place received such positive reviews. Maybe because the options nearby are worse? In the middle of the night, I had an emergency at home and was troubled to find: -no cell phone reception in/around the hotel (Att) -nobody at front desk after 9pm -in case of emergency, there is nobody to assist you, no instructions on how to dial out using the phone at the front desk. -sign at front desk instructed me to go to hotel across the street for assistance but nobody was there and door was locked -if there was a fire, theft, or other emergency, I would not feel secure at this hotel -I spoke to the hotel upon my return. They applogized and said they would make better signage at the front desk but they didn’t offer any compensation to me for the terrible experience I had at this hotel -There was an option to choose 2 twins on which I chose but I was told that request doesn’t get to the hotel, so was given a room with one double. -rooms are very small. No room to place luggage/belongings except floor. -very firm bedight be uncomfortable for some -hotel is located right on the street. -walls are thin -Ice only available when front desk staff is here Pros: -Very clean -Huge claw foot tub would be welcome after a long hike in Yosemite -free coffee, tea, cliff bars all day long -friendly staff, just could have provided more information in case of emergency

I love old hotels, the look was great, the rooms different, people great. I will stay there again. They need to add eggs to their breakfast.

Little gem
I was delighted by the warm reception and impeccably clean room. My pups were treated to a treat and a blanket. Breakfast was delicious and served promptly.
