Mostly good, too much weed
the hotel is conveniently located in LES to most of the things i needed to go to. walking distance to chinatown, bars and restaurants. the host staff was excellent, kind and accommodating. the room was spacious enough and ok for the most part. i wished there had been a microwave in the room. and my only complaint and negative experience was that the person next door smoked so much weed for the 3 days i was there! to the point where i was woken up to that smell everyday. when i asked about what could be done, they claimed nothing. not sure what kind of policy that is, but am hesitant to return. overall a good experience in a no frills hotel that is comfortable enough at a good price point. the weed smoke was out of control and the most annoying part of my stay.

Comfy bed
So the room was nice, the bed extra comfortable and nice and big. The view was nice. Here comes the issues Thad. In the bathroom, hanging on the shower rod was old dirty socks from the previous visitor. So, went to get out of the bathroom and the door knob fell off and was almost locked in the bathroom and had full blown panic so couldn't fully close the bathroom door after. Took about 5 mins to try and get the door back open. The shower in the morning, the water would not go warm but instead to scolding hot to where you could get burned. There was no changing it. Then the water became brown and about 15 mins later the water just stopped running and working.

Room needs reno
My room, compared later with others, was not renovated yet. My room offered a low profile bed that, for an older person, was challenging to get into and out of. The faucets and shower screamed from vibration as water moved through the pipes. My room, first time ever in North America, did not have a telephone. The room had a small work surface, but no chair to seat at it. The room was more old than dirty, but appeared dirty because of its long overdue need to be updated. The pull across curtain did not fully cover the window that was directly across the street from a city street light which illuminated my stay every night. My room is on the 3rd floor. The staff was very nice but failed to offer basic information such as wifi network name and password. Hours for the comp breakfast and happy etc.

Extremely Disappointed
Honestly, my wife and I were really looking forward to our stay at Rivington, but we’re extremely disappointed. First, we arrived slightly early to check in and the front reception person by elevators was extremely rude and short with us. Not welcoming, nor the type of person who should be greeting guests. Second, the room was definitely not what we expected or advertised. Booked an executive king expecting a balcony. All pictures on both hotels.com and even the Rivington website had pictures of a balcony included under the executive king room, which was over $700/night which was not worth the quality or size of the room. Lastly, the main reason we were looking forward to the stay was the hotel was listed as “sexiest boutique hotel” in the city. It sure how they got on this list, but nothing about the inside of lobby, common areas, halls, and especially rooms merited this title. The only thing positive was the location — was right next to many great lively spots. With that said, noise was extremely loud from street , easily heard in bedroom until 3-4am. If looking for good night rest, not the best place to stay.
