    Could have been a great week.

    Everything was great except for two major issues, the check out experience and the COVID-19 test. We stood in line nearly an hour to check out the resort which almost cause us to miss our flight. We had to just leave the resort without officially checking out. This became an issue with security. He was a very nice guy but we did not want to miss our flight. We ran thru the airport and made the flight as they were closing the doors. The whole process was stressful and took away from a wonderful bday week. Then, when I got home I realized the resort gave me someone elses COVID-19 result. I got tested the next day. When I was at the resort, I never got an email and they could not locate my test results so the front desk rep said he found it and printed it out and emailed me a copy. I only paid attention to my name and Negative. When I got home, I noticed it had the incorrect Birthday and age. I'm surprised immagration did not catch this. Thank God I tested negative when I got home and just got my second vaccination.

    The hotel its self was great. Due to the new COVID protocol we had to get tested before leaving back home. The hotel booked our test for Saturday afternoon stating it was only a few hours turnaround. Our flight was scheduled for 8am Sunday and we didnt receive our results until 10am Sunday.. We had to miss our flight, and all the hotel could say was sorry.

    Went solo but met people

    I had a great time staying here. Good for solo travelers like myself.. even though I came alone, I met and hung out with some people there. Sometimes it can be too loud because there’s a younger crowd who came to party.

    Hotel staff was awesome! The hotel was so clean and the staff was super friendly. Service was amazing and the food was all great! The only complaint is that the beds were so hard. We had a total of 5 rooms with our group and everyone said the same thing about the beds.

    RIU should be your 1st option ALWAYS!

    RIU Palace Americas hotel and staff were amazing! We never wanted for anything during our 5 day stay. RIU’s hospitality, attention to detail, and over the top customer service puts them above all other/supposedly “5 Star” hotels. RUI will now be our first choice when looking for a vacation hotel. Bye-Bye Ritz, Regis and Waldorf...you might have the iconic names but you don’t have winning formula like RIU.

    Hotel is dated. Restaurants are meh. 5/10 rating

    The hotel's location and balcony views were outstanding! The rooms are very dated and has an old feel. The rooms are a decent size but definitely needs an upgrade. I will say that the view from the balcony room is SPECTAULAR! Beds are not very comfortable and consistently moving around with the slightest of movement. If you're someone who doesn't care much for the rooms, then this could be a good choice for you at the price it's usually floating around. If you're someone who's looking into a luxury or more modern room/hotel, this hotel is not for you. The most disappointing aspect of this trip however were the restaurants. We are not picky eaters whatsoever but we had a very hard time with the food at this resort. The restaurants and rooms need a major upgrade. If you're a foodie, stay away from this hotel. If you're looking for a quick getaway (3-4 days) thats on the cheaper end and don’t mind the rooms/food as much, this hotel could work for you. I would not recommend this hotel to many people but it works..

    Always a great vacation!

    Riu Palace Las America’s is a great stay - cannot go wrong with this resort! We’ve stayed here multiple times and every single time the service has been excellent everywhere!!! The property grounds are gorgeous with an amazing beach (the water is crystal clear at certain times of the year with snorkeling right off the beach). The food on our most previous trip was a hit or miss, but overall you will never have a “bad” meal. Sometimes the food was just OK. Drinks are great, a little watered down, but keeps you hydrated if you plan to drink all day. I will say the rooms are very spacious but extremely dated and worn. The hotel could benefit from a remodel in their rooms, including their furniture in the lobby. However, Our room was very clean and well kept by our housekeeper each and every day. The hotel itself was immaculate and cleaned almost 24/7 by staff. Again, service is excellent here and everyone works very hard to make sure your stay goes above and beyond your standards. All in all, great stay for the most part and we will return next time we are in Cancun.
