Overall Embassy Inn is an exceptional hotel. The only big problem for us was the sound of the patio doors opening and closing as the people upstairs stepped out for a smoke. the sound is very loud and kept waking us up at night.

We Felt Like Ambassadors!
Loved the visit! Stayed four days and had a great time. The breakfasts were very well looked after with Chef Scott choosing to make every day a little different with the basics remaining the same. The do-it-yourself waffles with strawberry sauce and whipped cream were an unexpected treat. One of the elevators failed on a Sunday and it was fixed on the Monday so nobody had to climb stairs. Anything we mentioned to our maid was immediately dealt with as well. One light burned out in front of us and it had been replaced when we returned to the room. Good TV with lots of channels to choose from. All in all, five stars from us!

Great place to stay
We stayed for three nights on the 4th floor, so our room had high ceilings and a skylight. The room was well appointed and spotlessly clean. We found the beds to be uncomfortable, springy yet firm. I picked up an inexpensive foam topper at Walmart for the subsequent nights - problem solved. The walls were surprisingly thin and one night we could hear the entire conversation of someone chatting with another person on his computer at 11:15 pm. The breakfast was outstanding! Scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, hashbowns, tater tots, yogurt, fruit salad, fresh fruit, toast, muffins, cereal, juice, coffee and more! The staff were very approachable and helpful. We would definitely stay again.

Clean hotel, great breakfast
The room was well-appointed and very clean, as was the rest of the facility. We stayed on the fourth floor, so our room had nice high ceilings and a skylight. The only negative was a very springy mattress. And the walls were surprisingly thin. At 11:15 pm one night, our neighbour had a short but loud Skype conversation and we could hear every word. However, the breakfast selection and quality was outstanding, the staff were friendly and helpful, and I would certainly stay again.

Unfortunate Pet Policy
The hotel looks a bit shabby on the outside but the rooms are nicely updated, clean and comfortable. The location is fantastic - walking distance to everything you need and wish to see downtown. Also amazing about this place is free parking (rare for downtown Victoria), free breakfast and free wi-fi. Where else can you get all that for the price in this location? My only complaint is their pet policy. We were traveling with our 10 year old shepherd mix. So they charge a $20 pet fee, which is completely reasonable. But they ask that you don't leave your pet unattended in the room. The attendant made sure to tell us this after we had checked in and returned from our car with our dog and belongings. In most cases, pet friendly hotels ask that your dog is well trained and can be left alone in their room. Sure, if they damage anything, you'll be charged. But it's unreasonable to expect that you won't be leaving your dog alone in the room at some point during your stay. Whether you're going out for dinner or a museum or a pub nearby, you simply can't bring your dog everywhere. Most pets who travel with their owners are well behaved and can handle a couple hours alone. I felt like we couldn't leave our room to go for dinner or grab a drink without putting our dog in the car in the parking lot. For this reason, we couldn't stay here again, which is a real shame because it's probably the best value in Victoria.
