The resort is small and there was only two restaurants open out of 6. The workers were excellent though.
AMAZING!!! This was my second time staying here and I really can not say enough good things. Staff is attentive and very professional. The service felt very exclusive like we were the only ones there. The property is spacious and has several pools as well as private beaches. Even during covid they are providing a great experience. Some of the activates are "closed" or limited but there was plenty to do. They have the restaurants for dinner set up by reservations which I really like because there's no waiting and the amount of people at one time is limited. The buffet is still open for breakfast, lunch and dinner no reservation needed. The resort is in a gated community so its very safe. There is a plaza with shopping, restaurants, excursions and dolphin encounters only 5 min walk. Plus the sailing tours all leave from right down the street. The resort has a very helpful liaison who can help you easily set up day or half day excursions where they pick you up and return you. We did Tulum, sunset sail and snorkeling sail. Everyone at the resort speaks enough English that I never felt like there was a language barrier. The drinks are delicious and its not cheap watered down liquor. Food was exceptional and the rooms are comfortable, clean and quiet. Highly Recommend!!!!!
An amazing resort , it’s the type of hidden gem where everyone makes you like family. The staff is amazing guest services with Alix & Beatrice , bartenders like Valerio, Pedro, Manuel & every single one !! Servers like Esther, Ismael , Abraham & again everyone else . Every single person who works there from gardeners to maintenance always greet you !! Housekeeping is amazing, the spa is wonderful!! Several pools & amazing snorkeling on the beach !! There are so many amazing reasons why we keep going back year after year!!
This is our second time visiting Catalonia, perfect place to stay. The staff so professional, Jairo from beloved, Florensima and Leonardo by the pool. Always making us feel so welcome. These are the people who make you come back again. Very nice experience. I truly recommend Catalonia.
The staff was very friendly and helpful! Clean and beautiful place to stay! My family and I really Enjoyed it! Would definitely go back!
We wish to provide our thanks for such a wonderful stay at your property. A special thanks to Eduardo for the scuba lessons, the wait staff at the pool and the restaurants and the entire staff. I wish to also express our thanks because my wife left her bag in the restaurant at lunch time and forgot about it until after dinner. She was able to get her bag from the reception lost and found and all the money and items inside were untouched. Thank you so much for such honest staff and employees. We really felt at home and truly enjoyed our stay. We hope to be back with our family again soon.
We have been to the Cancun/Riviera Maya area many times. Catalonia provided us with the best, most pleasant service we have ever had. All while being hit with tropical storm Gama the day before we arrived and Hurricane Delta 3 days later! They welcomed guests from other resorts that were being evacuated. We were told Catalonia is "hurricane certified". We literally slept through it and never heard the winds! Restaurants and buffets were very good. We upgraded to a suite, which was very roomy and comfortable. Snorkeling off of the beach was very enjoyable. We will definitely return.
The only thing good about this property is the location on the beach. However It’s hard to swim in the beach because of all the rocks in the water. The food is awful and lowest grade ever. The food was always reheated left overs. We never got to dine in any of the restaurants because they said they had low capacity of guests so we had to dine in the buffet for all the meals. The pasta was horrible. During the hurricane the bathroom was leaking that I had to move all my toiletries out.
My wife and I visited at an off-peak time of the season (end of September) so the resort was NOT crowded at all. Going to a pool for their swim-up bar was amazing before roughly noon or 1pm as we were often the ONLY ones in the pool or ordering drinks. Most resorts put a lot of pressure on you to pay for extras, even at all-inclusives. This place did not - but options exist if you’re interested. Everything was laid back, easy-breezy, take it or leave it, and the staff couldn’t have been kinder! The rooms left a little to be desired. Older, not very up to date. The water actually stopped during my shower (presumably because the building ran out of water) but thankfully restarted after about 20-30 seconds. Otherwise we had no major complaints and it was a terrific stay!
The service was amazing. Everyone for the most part was very friendly and extremely helpful. The resort location is absolutely breathtaking, this was my fifth time in Mexico and fourth time at this resort! That should tell you how much I love staying here. The only thing I would like to see an improvement in is the main buffet restaurant, La Brisa. They strive to offer so much variety here in what they serve, that everytbing ends up tasting either bland, overcooked, or tasteless. The other restaurants on the resort are all magnificent. My personal favorite is Beloved, for breakfast and lunch, and Tapas for dinner. Overall, this resort offers a myriad of activities for all ages. Children can enjoy poolside activities, adults can enjoy poolside bar lounging and games, snorkeling, canoeing, exploring, and at night, there are amazing performances at the theater put on by a very dedicated dance team. I can't wait to come again next year! If you are interested in seeing more of the resort from my point of view, I vlogged our trip and will be putting it up on my Youtube channel, Shabnam and Waleed. We did a decent job of vlogging the activities, some performances, LOTS of food, and a few excursions.
