Long Weekend

Overall good stay , great location close to the Central station in the centre of Gothenburg. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful at check in, restaurant and bar staff also very pleasant. Minor issues were the AC which we couldn’t switch off and having no hot water on the morning of our check out. However that wouldn’t put me off recommending the hotel to fellow travellers

Stuffy nights…

Would recommend without hesitation if not for noise. Noise from construction outside actually also Sundays. Air inside room warm. Could not adjust temp, reception only offered fan, and we also could not open window in the night due to noise. So hot and stuffy nights… Might help if you get a room facing away from construction site. Chose Scandic Europe due to connection to Nordstan shopping centre. It seems to be in same huge building complex. Parking in Nordstan convenient and cheap compared to many other places in town. Plan was to reach main street «Avenyn» and Haga. So in retrospect might have chosen a hotel on the other end of Avenyn, like Gothia Towers.

Not bad, but not that great either

The hotel is quite good, large, and centrally placed, very close to the main train station. It’s easy to walk around town from here. However, there are a number of minor aspects with our stay here, entailing I will not stay there again, next year when I plan to return to Gothenburg. The Good: Staff is very friendly, as most Swedes tend to be. It is always nice, and you feel welcome. The hotel is very central. The rooms at the lower tier are not very large, but not overly small either. It would have been a bit too small for my wife, who likes to do yoga in the morning in the hotel room, but okay for a short visit, like we had (two nights). The room, albeit not large, had a very large and good quality TV, that even had the Norwegian main channel. They had BBC World News, but no CNN. One of the two is good enough, though. The bed was good, slept very well. The duvets were sufficiently thick, and also quite nice. The window could be opened, which I prefer to an air conditioned room. The not so great: We arrived around noon, and were informed that check-in time was 4PM (!), but we could either store our baggage at the hotel until then, or pay an early check-in fee for 200 swedish kroner, around 20 US dollars. We chose the latter, since roaming around for 4 hours weren’t an option. It’s not that steep a price, but hello - the room was ready, so why do we have to pay extra? Policy, I guess, and I can live with that, but it’s not exactly a plus in my book. Also, we chec

Jättebra bemötande på hotellet. God frukost men det borde vara frukost till iallafall halv 11 istället för halv 10. Och vi fick inte information om att det är frukost till kl 11 på helgerna och på röda dagar så vi skyndade oss ner till kl 9 för att hinna äta frukost. Den infon hade vi velat ha. Annars allt bra!

Fint nyrenoverat, trevlig personal. Frukosten var dock väldigt stökig. Inga sittplatser, långa köer till varje station. På måndagen hade man bara frukost på ena sidan av restaurangen istället för båda trots fullsatt i restaurangen vilket innebar att det tog 20 minuter om man skulle köa för ett glas vatten. Drog ner lite på allmänna betyget men annars trevligt och mycket centralt hotell
