Unique room but needs help.
The room was nice but the carpet needed replacing, badly. There were no directions on how to operate the TV. Noisy bar next door. Very good location, however.

Sleepless Nights
Won't ever stay here again. The hotel runs a pub that stays open until 2am. There are signs that tell the patrons to please be quiet and respect the neighborhood but apparently the hotel doesn't enforce this. Loud, thumpy, vibrating music until 2am on Thursday and Friday nights of my stay. Even earplugs didn't help. The patrons were extremely loud and all out on the sidewalk hooping and hollering like it was a sporting event. Lots of screaming and rowdiness. By the time all of it stopped I was too mad to fall asleep. I had a non-refundable room so changing hotels was not an option.

Good 6.0
Great location, charm, needs updating
Great location, charming old building, but the "king size" mattress was actually just two twins stuck together, one of which was quite old and uncomfortable. The complimentary continental breakfast was decent (coffee wasn't great), but it was served in the bar which has sticky/gross floors from all the spilled beer - they really need to tear out that old carpet! We did enjoy the balcony off the room though, and the pub next door was great.

Well-located hotel in west-end downtown Toronto.
The Madision Boutique Hotel is comprised of abour 4 Brownstone houses that have been made over into a number of hotel rooms in each building. The Madison Bar is widely known in the Toronto area, and so it tends to be a busy hub most evenings. We were on the basement level of our building. I was at first concerned about the location of this room, but it was clean, quiet in the evening as well as night, and had a brand new up-to-date bathroom. A safe was available on the shelf in the open closet in the alcove off of the bathroom area. In talking with other guests at breakfast (Note; there is nothing exciting or fancy about breakfast; apples and bananas, cold cereal, breads, etc..), we heard that they had quite a bit of street noise in the mid to late evening/night hours. We were there during the celebration of the Raptor's championship win, this possibly was behind some of the street/ neighborhood noise. A big benefit of. this hotel is that it is located a block away from the Spadina /Bloor subway stop. This means one has easy access to going in all directions on public transit trains....with free transfer to trolleys and buses.
