Expensive sleepless no-frills layover night
The staff (especially at reception) were helpful and friendly, despite the hotel's generally uninspiring location and surroundings, they were clearly doing their best to make travellers feel as welcome as possible. Booked here due to a layover with an early morning flight out of JFK, certainly the only reason to consider staying here I'd say. The hotel is sandwiched between two parking areas, one for a hundred odd school busses and the other for a bunch of garbage trucks, being as it is, next door to a dept. of sanitation building. Surprisingly I only caught a whiff of the smell once, but once is enough. Anyway, no one is coming here to enjoy the view, the main issues with the hotel were the lack of options to get a bite to eat for dinner and primarily that the heater in the room was almost as loud as the aeroplane I just stepped off! With the heating off, the room couldn't stay warm enough to last the night, but leaving it on was too much noise to sleep through, so not much sleep that night at all. In summer, this would be a more viable option for a layover I guess.

Odd motion-activated overhead lights
nice hotel, rooms are small. they have a motion activated light system with glaring overhead lights so if u get up in the dark, it comes on and lights up the whole room, not exactly restful for your bed partner! Front desk said they could supply a cover for the motion activation feature upon demand.
