The hotel Wasn’t what I wanted. The adult only was close so they put me in the regular hotel. The first night the ac was broken and had to change room at 2am in the morning. The food was horrible and customer service was very rude to me and dismissive of my needs. Second room I was in the tv didn’t work. I couldn’t book a reservation at any restaurant because they were under staff. The bars would only be active if you tip them other wise you would just stand there like a idiot waiting to get their attention. Over all beautiful place, bad service and disappointing food.

NO ADULTS ONLY The resort was great overall, but beware if you think you're staying at the Adults Only hotel(Barcelo Bavaro Beach). The hotel website makes it look like this section is open and that's what we reserved, but when we checked in we were told Barcelo Bavaro Beach was closed and all guests were staying at Barcelo Bavaro Palace (the main complex). We were also told we'd been upgraded to Premium because the Adults Only room we'd booked was unavailable, but we paid for the Premium upgrade during booking, so that wasn't a consolation. The upsides were that our room was probably larger than it would have been in the Adults Only and the resort wasn't very full anyway. We didn't run into too many families and it seemed like the Adults Only guests were roomed close together. There was also an Adults Only pool next to a bar (the swim up bar in the main pool was closed). The new room was also closer to the restaurants and other entertainment. The resort ensured all staff were wearing masks and during the week when it wasn't as busy was checking everyone's temperature when entering the buffet (the only breakfast and lunch option). Very few guests were in masks, whether at the pool, the buffet, or walking around in general. It never felt crowded, but we noticed more people on Saturday when we were checking out. Also of note, we were told more rooms and things in the country in general would be opening up in December, so I would expect things to get more crowded then.

Disaster. 1-We booked the Barceló Bavaro Adults-only just to discover during checking that it was closed, and they were shoving us in here without even asking. 2- 2.5hs to check-in (yes, you are waiting standing in no AC, in 90 degree weather) 3- Forgot to give us Wifi access and had to stand in line again 4- Wifi was TERRIBLE (drops every few minutes) 5- All restaurants unavailable for the next 2 days, so we were forced to eat at the buffet. 6- We are not picky eaters and love buffets (that tells you something) but this was SO bad. No Covid-measures. Lines for everything. Chaos, total chaos. 7- They packed to hotel at 100% capacity. They lowered the prices for locals so this place was PACKED. No issues with the locals, except for all those who brought their sound systems with super loud music, and closed off sections of the pool to smoke their hookah and marihuana. Not a great scene. Not very relaxing. 8- Won't allow you to bring food from the outside. 9- No Covid measures. They will attempt to pack you with all the people, and yell at you (as they yelled at us) if you don't sit with the crowds at the buffet, and sit in the furthermost dinning area (the shut down the are so the can have most people sitting close to each other) 10- Don't let me forget the glass doors that allow you to see your significant other's silhouette while sitting on the toilet. Also, the door does not go all the way to the top, so the bathroom noises are magnified. We could go on.

It’s a huge resort that should definitely adapt its staff resources to the size as they are in clear shortage of personnel. While it aspires to be a top exclusive place, the overal quality of the services was somewhat mediocre (and with awful drinks at the bar). The most positive aspect was that the sea colour is absolutely stunning.

I was supposed to go to Barcelo Bavaro Beach but they sent me to Barcelo Bavaro Palace without a previous warning. Nobody tried to explain why the hotel was closed, and no apologies were given. Buffet was poor (limited options) and service was far from being excellent. Hotel offered no entertainment at nights. There was nothing to do after 10 but sleep. The hotel have 14 restaurants a la carte. Only 4 were opened. We had to wait almost one hour to check in since there was a lot of people arriving to the hotel at the same time. Not to mention that people in the reception were slow. We slept one night without air conditioner, the day after they said that they were working on it. Last thing, the room was 10 minutes walk from the reception and restaurants since the resort is huge. They should have golf carts to transport people those long distances.

There is no social distancing. When you check in and check out the wait is long and it’s the same line. And the way they treat the people at the front desk is as if you weren’t asking. And they wouldn’t even offer water you have to wait to get to the restaurant to get a drink.

I absolutely loved everything. The hotel is beautiful and the service was AMAZING. I loved every single night. We stayed for a week and I hope to go back soon. Patricia & Maribel are the best! they work at the casino. Highly recommend this hotel.
