If you want to be in the jungle and never eat at the beach except for lunch then it's for you. There were no ocean views and only one main pool. It's says all inclusive. It's really not and I've been to a lot of all inclusive resorts where this has never been my experience. You only get a certain amount of dinner reservations to the three restaurants based off how many nights you stay. We were not aware of this before arriving or else I would not have booked there. According to the front desk the dinner restaurants are a "curtsey" and not actually included in the all inclusive package. They say snorkeling, kayaking and some other toys are included. They don't tell you it's only one hour per day or you get charged. Food is okay at best at the restaurants and buffet. Buffet is the same for breakfast and lunch. Service at the buffet's are terrible. If you want your drink before you finish your meal it's not gonna happen even water you couldn't get. Speaking of water. They do a very poor job cleaning blenders before making other drinks. Seemed that we had some left over sink water in the blender that was then in our Pina coladas which made my sister and I sick beyond anything before. Vomiting and diarrhea all night. Food poisoning or bad water whatever you want to and we were not the only ones. Numerous others were also sick at the resort. We let the front desk know how sick we got and they did not seem to care saying that people don't get sick here. Really ruined our vacation.

I had read many reviews after booking occidental that had me skeptical. While the food isn’t the best you can always find something to fill you up that’s good! We had no issues with food, accommodations, air conditioning or anything. There was a minor hiccup when checking in, we booked a king room and we’re given a double, it was resolved rather quickly though. I like the jungle around everywhere, it’s a pretty quiet resort. The kids had a blast too!

The staff is wonderful! The buffet food was good. The dinners that required reservations were excellent. Unfortunately, there is some beach erosion which limits the amount of chairs and walking on beach. Would definitely go back!

I loved this resort. Beautiful grounds and well maintained. Very spread out resort which made it feel very private and secluded wonderful shows in the evening. The whole experience was wonderful.
