Decent location, but little else
If you want a cheap-ish stay with access to Chinatown and Union Square, and not a terribly long walk to the Ferry Building, Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, etc., then it fits the bill. But service and amenities is where it falls down. Confused check-in and policies (e.g. inaccurate billing that can't be explained or itemized by staff, on-the-fly changes regarding cleaning, excessive talking over guests asking questions). Less important, but nonetheless inconvenient, is very limited TV channel options. If you want to check financial programs in the morning, sports in the evening, or any non-terrestrial broadcast, you're out of luck. I'd recommend casting a broader net, as there are many more convenient hotels in the vicinity.

Great simple choice in good location
It was a pretty great stay all around. Location was good and an easy walk to Union Square and we loved walking around Chinatown. Things to consider: room itself was very small, bed wasn't super comfortable, no AC (which wasn't an issue for us but I'd keep in mind the weather when booking) and the water didn't get too hot in the shower but I didn't mind too much. However I like boiling lava showers. In general it was an affordable option in a good area and the hotel staff was super friendly. All together it depends what you're looking for. If you want a 5 star big room with all the comforts it's not for you, but if you want an easy quick option in a good location, and you're not too picky I think it's a solid choice.

Overall, very pleased with my stay. The rooms were small and felt like dorm rooms, but were well-kept. The staff was also highly accommodating, and the location was excellent. A great overall value and I will gladly stay there again.

Stay away !
Booked for 3 nights, arrived a 8pm, at 10pm I was asking for a cancellation. Horrible smell in the whole building, very old, the room is smaller than small, you can hear the outside more than if you were in your car, cold and humid, body hair on the walls, I still feel dirty from spending a night there. I can't even understand how people can like it (I booked based on good comments). The only good point is that they let me cancel without trouble. But overall, worse hotel experience of my life. Definitely don't waste tour money there.
