Historic Whisky Retreat
Cool historic hotel with a great pub attached and their whisky bar is by far one of the most amazing spaces. definitely worth a visit. Staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Room was comfortable with a hot shower with plenty of pressure.

Disappointing
We stayed at this hotel and were quite excited as it’s somewhere that we know has had a great reputation. we were greeted by a lovely member of reception who was exceptionally welcoming and helpful this person was not on duty when we checked in later that day. When we did check in with the different staff member, our first disappointment was finding our room was near a very loud party of guests. We asked the new receptionist if there was any chance of getting moved but we were told there were no more rooms like ours ( we had booked through a booking company). We were told we could get a big room costing an extra £80 ( £250 ) but we turned it down. The room we had was a good size, however it was shabby(cobwebs in the blinds and mould in the corner of the bathroom and ingrained in the blind) the panelling in the sink area was swollen and needing replaced. The shower seal was useless as huge puddles formed in the corner of the bathroom. The bed was reasonably comfy, a bit too soft for me, it’s a personal choice so I can’t really complain, the sheets were of good quality. There were marks and dents in the walls of the room that needed looking at. The coffee machine was a nice touch. There was not a good set up for anyone who likes to put on makeup, poor lighting and no seating with a decent mirror. We didn’t get much sleep due to the noise in the hotel. I also had to deal with being overcharged for our room ( the first receptionist sorted this out and was very good)

Fantastic!
We have just returned from a fantastic stay at the Craigellachie - I can’t recommend it highly enough. Everything about it was perfect; the room was comfortable with a number of thoughtful touches, Rebecca in reception and all of the waiting/bar staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was amazing! Don’t miss the Quaich bar either - a great place to finish a lovely evening. Lovely, welcoming hotel - we will definitely be back!

Arriving here last Monday , the lady on reception was most professional and courteous , explaining where the breakfast would be , the whisky room , the restaurant etc .. my room was detailed as a single ( snug ? ) room and it was perfect for my needs as an overnight stop single traveller . The room was well appointed , the tv was a little off the mark being as nowadays most hotels of good calibre have wall mounted products rather than this little effort that was perched on a little table at the foot of the bed .. but that would be nitpicking .. and I understand after speaking with the nice lady on reception upon leaving that there is a big plan of progressive refurbishment underway so I’m sure in time , any little foibles will be addressed . The hotel is handy for Elgin , it’s on the whisky trail , it’s marketed as a historic whiskey hotel in its own right , it has a fantastic restaurant on site ( Copper Dog ) that I had an amazing meal at , so I will be back in a month or two with my wife to stay again and have a lovely meal .. Free car parking too !

Superb Cosy Winter Retreat
Lovely room, beautiful cosy hotel and consistently great service from the entire team, though Mark in the restaurant was particularly great at resolving one minor issue we had with our meal. Can’t recommend them enough. We’ll be back, soon hopefully.
