Everything was great with the exception of the room it absolutely smelled awful like cigarettes. And my first night there I tried calling several times to get someone to check it out and no one answered.

Decent hotel, nothing to rave about though
Let me say right off the bat I find this properties wristband policy completely asinine. You have to wear one at a times and a security guard checks it every time you try and enter your hotel. It makes you feel more like prisoner than a guest. That alone turned me off ever returning. As for the hotel itself it's adequate by downtown Vegas standards, although I found my room to be way smaller than I expected. The Casino is kinda grimy populated by people of questionable character. I really just went there to check in and out. If you are serious about gambling maybe consider other options. I stayed at the Cabana Suites which is thankfully away from the hustle and bustle of the main casino, it feels like an oasis away from the chaos of the main building. One good thing about this property is if you are attending EDC Las Vegas it's only a 7 minute walk from the shuttle stop, which is a godsend after three straight nights of raving. The hotel is also with walking distance of all the major attractions, so if you are just looking for a place to crash you can do worse than staying here.

Don't think we will be back...
Having to climb 3 flights if stairs with luggage was horrible...it was a newly remodled area so no elevator...the smell made my asthma react horrible...security stopping us on the way to our room and because my fiance didn't have his ID on him almost made him leave the building was appalling service..waitresses were wonderful and helpful...also valet people were great.

The El Cortez Disappoints
I booked the Cabana Suites. I didn’t realize that it was a separate building from the El Cortez. We had to walk to another building across the street to find our room. When arriving to our room the key did not work. The women at the front desk downstairs said she could not help me, that I would need to go across the street to their customer service for assistance. To make a long story short I made 3 trips across the street. It was not the key, but the magnetic pad on the door that was broken. We then proceeded to wait downstairs for maintenance to repair the door. 2 hours later we got into our room. Tired and hungry we decided to order room service. There was no room service. We had to order food from the restaurant in the main building and again walk across the street to pick it up. The room at first glance was clean, but really not clean at all. Dirty and broken. The mattress was poor quality. It sat on-top of a handmade wooden box. The sheets were cheap and scratchy. The street noise was extremely loud. The toilet broke and wasn’t repaired until the next day. Over all it was not a great experience. I guess you get what you pay for.
