Pleasant overall but annoyingly spoilt
Overall it was a pleasant stay at the Murrayfield Hotel. It’s a short journey to the city centre with plenty of transport options available. The pictures do not lie in regards to how lovely it looks from the outside, the lobby, the bar / restaurant which was reassuring. The size of the rooms were a little disappointing considering that we did consider cheaper options but this was not a major issue at all. The service was brilliant. The bartenders and waitresses were very helpful and polite as well as the ladies at reception. They knew a lot about the area and were happy for us to leave our bags with them on the final day after checking out. The only sore note was that on our last night of staying, we were rudely woken by the linen / towel delivery at 5am. They opted to use the side entrance where rooms 1-8 are? Not only us but the room next to us were immediately wide awake not just because of the timing but the fact that the staff were literally running up and down the passage? Considering the focus of the business is to provide a place for people to stay and sleep it was (in our eyes) a let down and definitely something to be considered for future guests.

Nice, modern hotel
The overall look and feel of the hotel is very nice and the dining and bar areas have friendly staff. We stayed on the first floor in a corner room and it was very noisy. We could hear people coming down the hallway constantly and even through the walls from near by rooms. While the rooms were kept warm, the hallways and reception area didn’t seem to have much heat and were very chilly.

Fantastic Hotel. Good location and very good food!
This is an excellent hotel. The staff are pleasant and the room I stayed in was amazing. The food in the Bothy restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. I stayed in he House which is away from the main hotel a short walk down the road but the room was large and comfortable and quite impressive. I do have one minor issue however and that was that the Wi-Fi was extremely slow. So slow it was really unusable. This was both in the room and in the restaurant. Fortunately I had a decent 4G signal so whilst working on my laptop I could tether to my phone so it didn’t cause too much of an issue. Perhaps the routers need rebooting? I didn’t mention this to the hotel Staff as I managed OK with my phone but perhaps I should have.

Comfortable room
Our room was comfortable and nicely furnished. Operation of the ventilation and heating was elusive. Room located at the back of a nearby annex to the main building. Quiet but isolated.
