South Thompson Inn & Conference Centre

The property is beautiful with white fences and flowers, there is also a nice river view. We stayed in the Carriage House and it was very outdated. The bed was comfortable. What bothered me the most was that the thermostat for the heat coming from the ceiling was locked with a plastic lock box. I called the front desk because the room was too hot and I was told to use the window air-conditioned (the fronts of which were dusty and I had to clean). I explained that even if I turned them on there was hot air blowing out of the ceiling vents because the thermostat was set to heat. A man came and said he would change the setting and then lock it again. I said that is not fair and I need to be able to control the temperature of our room. I had to wait while he made a call, then he came back and gave me the key to the lock. It was appalling they expect you to not be allowed to control the temperature in your room. It's supposed to be a nice hotel not some dodgy hostel. When I turned on the window air-conditioning unit over the bed a dead fly fell out onto my pillow. Not a great start. Then I discovered the blue block of rat/mouse poison beside the fridge. Glad my child didnt find it first. The coffee pot in the room was not clean, the coffee provided looked old and was in a canister with a scoop dropped inside. Even before COVID that would have grossed me out because it's not sanitary. Shower too small to use. Stair rail not properly attached and wobbly. Fruit flies stuck to wall.

A great place to unwind & relax. I love connecting with nature and for me, this place is just sooo perfect!!! I find it calming to wake-up with a great view of the river. Such a serene haven!!! It is immaculately clean and the Front Desk Staff is very accommodating and friendly. It would be nicer if Fridge, Kettle and Microwave is available or provided in the room. Commercial establishments like restaurants are 20min. drive from the place, so might as well purchase your food, water and snacks prior if you’re not planning to go out after check-in.

This place is so cute! Our family vacation was to check out Wells Gray Provincial and do some hiking so we looked for a place to stay fairly close to town for a home base. We loved the charm of the South Thompson Inn and the staff were fantastic! Super friendly and accommodating. They even called in advance to advise about the restaurant closures but offered details of places to eat in town. The property is very large with many friendly animals. We loved using the bikes to ride to the horses and feed them some treats. The river view was great and the pool and hot tub offered great views of the sunset as well. The only knock was that we didn't have a fridge but we just kept drinks cold with ice from the machine. The resort is older and dated but honestly, that was part of it's charm. Plus, a great winery was only 10 minutes down the road. Next time we are in the Kamloops area, we will absolutely be back!

Beautiful view and great pool. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable.

When we arrived there was 3 of us instead of 2 ppl so i got charged an extra $60 for 2 nights. There were no lounge chairs by the pool on regular chairs to sit in. Took a big discussion to get lounge chairs. Lots of places that we could sit and social distance outside but no where to sit. The hotel itself is nice but the staff weren't very friendly. Since there is no restaurant in the hotel now the only place you could eat is at the golf course or drive 20 minutes.

Unfriendly staff, no shop, no drinks, no breakfast. Aircon in room noisy. And the excuse is Covid-19. Very poor.

We had been looking to stay here for a couple of years. The reviews looked good, and then....the stay was not ok. During check in, it was less about 'enjoy your stay' and more about 'you can't do this, you can't do that'. Then they told us there was no food and beverage option, but we could eat at the golf course. Well, that was a disaster. I won't get in to those details as I don't believe they are the same company. Fridge and Microwave - nope - but we called and requested them. We did get them, but only after being told they were busy and would see what they could do....to which the old rickety wooden cart that got rolled into the room was in direct obstruction to the tv. But we were able to cool down our snacks and waters. The AC in our room did not work - just blew hot air from outside to inside. We debated just leaving and finding something else in town. We decided we would weather it out as we had a tee time booked the next day. As a result, we hardly slept, and felt we had the equivalent of heat stroke the next morning. Well, why did we not open our screen door to get a better breeze? It was because there was no screen, and the mouse hanging out on our deck wasn't contributing as a paying guest. Did we complain? No, because there was no front desk coverage after 8pm, and upon check out, again nobody there. And we were way too hot to wait. Unfortunately we will not be back.

Very nice property, quite and peaceful. Just wish we could have stayed longer.

I didn’t actually get to go. Due to covid the wedding we had booked this for was cancelled. I called about rescheduling our reservation for next year and they wouldn’t allow it. As if covid wasn’t enough now we have to pay for a very expensive hotel room that we didn’t even get to use
