WARNING: DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY OR SENSITIVITY TO PERFUME!!!! I checked into the hotel, all seemed fine, the receptionist was very kind and quickly checked me in and I went up into my room. When I walked into the room I was smacked in the face with the strongest old lady perfume you could imagine. It made me sick. immediate head ache and queasiness. It’s no joke. I’ve never experienced anything like it and I honestly couldn’t believe that any hotel would think that doing that to the rooms would be acceptable. I opened the window to air out the room but nothing would help. The receptionist informed me that they heavily perfume all the rooms as a rule. He switched my room to try to be helpful, but there was no helping it, not even opening the window for a half hour. I had to book another hotel and leave - of course, I’m wondering what exactly they are trying to cover up with that horrible perfume, mold? I think it’s completely unfair NOT to advertise that on their page. It may seem trivial to some, but to me, it was making me feel sick with a headache, stomach ache and a scratchy throat. I’m also a singer and was in Karlsruhe for an audition, so my health, especially my throat, are very important. I’m truly a “roughing it” type of person, but bathing in old lady perfume is something I cannot handle, especially since the decision to ruin the room with the perfume was not in my control. I felt better once I left, but I probably won’t get my money back.

A very tired hotel. The reception staff weren't particularly welcoming. We booked this hotel with a restaurant as we were arriving after a 10 hour journey, only to be told that there was a problem with the restaurant that week. We therefore had to go in search of food in the town. The shower was fixed only half way up the wall, so not very comfortable. There is a secure underground car park but no lift and 3 flights of stairs.
Most enjoyable stay, friendly and helpful staff, ideally located between the City Centre and main railway station
The situation is good; breakfast is excellent and the air conditioning was also excellent - important when the external temperature reached 40C
Rather central. only about 600m from hauptbahnhoff. Was about 1km from marktplatz but there is a bus right out the front and trams not far either. Breakfast was ok, could be better but not complaining. Very helpful staff. Would absolutely stay again
Good location on one of the main streets, but away from traffic noise. Short walk to Hauptbahnhof, Ettlinger Tor (shopping mall) and city market square. Comfortable beds. Bathroom was updated. Carpet was shabby. Staff were very prompt and helpful when we needed them to check the A/C. Wifi was good. Grounds were not kept up. Dark at night around the property. Good value for the money.
Very good hotel, spacious room and friendly staff. Within walking distance to town centre (15min on foot from Marktplatz), 10mins away on foot from the train station and there is also a bus stop just outside taking you to the town centre. We had no problem parking just outside of the hotel where it is free but there aren’t that many free parking slots. The restaurant was expensive for the food (c 25 euros a head for a one course dinner and a drink) but the staff were absolutely superb!
I chose this hotel as a base from which to attend the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim. I had a pleasant stay and the staff were attentive and very positive. The Leonardo is in a quiet location opposite the zoological gardens, midway between the busy main train station and the city centre. Air conditioning was quiet and effective during a hot and humid summer. I would stay here again if I am in the region.
Close to the venue for the conference and within easy reach of the station, it worked well for us and as Ettlinger Strasse is now quiet it was pleasant in the beer garden. Welcome was good; breakfast excellent and the staff helpful and friendly. The room was a little small but comfortable and very satisfactory. We will be back
