Fantastic trip
Fantastic hotel and staff. The staff were only happy enough to help with everything and anything and the hotel itself is in great condition, the breakfast is excellent and our room was very comfortable. We will definitely be back.

Mediocre experience
The hotel building lives up to its name, it's truly beautiful. Breakfast was great and the service was outstanding but we had some rather large issues with the bar and reception staff. When we booked in we gave a credit card to the receptionist for authorisation. We went to our room to settle in then visited the bar for a drink. We gave a member of staff our room number but he came back saying it had not gone through. We said it was strange but we would check with reception when we left. We finished our drinks and went to the reception area. My husband went to ask the hotel to book us a taxi before raising the drink issue. I went to the lift to go back to our room. As I was waiting a member of staff approached me and shoved a silver tray with a bill on it in my face saying "you must pay your bill, please sign this". I explained that there was a problem which we were resolving but she would not leave me alone so I went to the reception desk. The same member of staff went to my husband and said exactly the same, despite knowing I'd gone to sort it out. after speaking to reception it seems when we checked in the woman did not authorise our card properly or explain that they had to take a £50 deposit in order to do so. We have stayed in many hotels and have never been asked for a desposit on a credit card before but regardless, we were not told this was required. The aggression shown by the bar staff was unreasonable and caused embarrassment. Very disappoining experience.
