We stayed in the Hilton for two nights. The room was nice, a bit cold, but fine. We arrived late (around 1am) and the man who checked us in said he needed our debit card on file. We informed him, several times, we had already paid through hotels.com, but he continued to insist that he needed our debit card in case we ordered room service etc. We were so tired, we didn’t argue, and we did what we were asked. The next morning we checked our bank account and we noticed had been charged twice for two rooms (we had 2 rooms for 2 nights booked)- nearly €1500 instead of the €760 we’d already paid. We explained this at reception. What a pointless saga. They argued over and back with me until I asked to speak with a manager. We did get it sorted in the end, after 50 min, but they gave the money back in pound, although we’d paid in euro, and live in a country with euro.
We didn’t even receive a bottle of water as an apology. I will not be recommending this hotel to friends or staying here ever again.
