About this home

Built in the early 1900s as a stable block and tractor shed, the barn has been redesigned by a local architect with modern living and comfort in mind whilst retaining original beams. Sitting in it's own wrap around garden with views onto the fields the barn has an open plan living room with a log burner for cosy nights inside whilst the sun drenched patio offers the ideal spot for alfresco dining or watching the sun go down. A grassed lawn stretching the length of the stable block links with a second patio off the master bedroom suite. It offers plenty of space to relax and unwind all year round.
You may spot the local barn owls, bats circling over the garden in the evenings , geese migrating across the skies or muntjac and deer roaming the fields.

The barn is situated in the small peaceful hamlet of Runham with a shop and 2 pubs approximately 2 miles away in neighboring villages. From the barn take a gentle walk down to the River Bure across open fields for a picnic or a 20 minute walk along the country roads will lead you to Thrigby Wildlife Gardens. In the village there is a small children's playground and village green.

Empty roads and the odd gentle hill makes cycling easy and pleasurable for all abilities. The expansive unspoilt sandy beaches of Caister await 5 miles away for swimming , sand castles and seal spotting while boat hire on the broads is just 3 miles.

    Holiday in Bishops Barn Runham

Excellent, spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable property. Would love to come back.

A wonderful place to stay for the week.

The photos don't really do this place justice - although it was a lovely surprise when we opened the door! The barn is beautifully decorated throughout and absolutely spotlessly clean. It is extremely comfortable and we felt at home from the moment we arrived. The area is so peaceful and we had a lovely walk in the sunshine up to the drainage mill and river. The barn was extremely well equipped and there was nothing I could think of that Viv and David hadn't thought to include. When we did have a minor issue, Viv and David came over immediately and did everything they could to sort it for us. There is so much to do in the local area and the beaches are lovely.

We had a lovely week in Runham in this beautiful barn conversion. On arrival, we were greeted with the best goodie box we've ever seen - including prosecco, apple juice, local beer and other goodies - and fresh bread and cake - fantastic! The barn was spotlessly clean and so spacious - it really was a delightful place to stay. The build quality and attention to detail of the barn conversion is also exceptional. We enjoyed relaxing in the garden watching the bees and butterflies on the lavender bushes. The location is also excellent and it's a great base for exploring this pretty part of Norfolk and its coastline. Highly recommended!

    Lovely short holiday

Not just any barn! Conveniently situated within 15mins drive to the nearest beach but still quietly tucked down in Runham - our arrival along narrow country lanes between fields set the precise tone for our ‘unlock-post-lockdown’ escape from London. We were greeted warmly by pop the cat and our host and were delighted to find a baked cake and bread loaf along with some other complimentary treats. Not just any barn, this is a modern conversion with all the spoils and frankly if it wasn’t for the need to get some sea air and walk the broads, we could easily have lit the wood burning stove, curled up on the couch and read books for our 4 night stay. There is even a hidden treasure of board games for the kids. Other than morning visits from the resident hen, we saw plenty of rabbits and even some deer while heading away or back to our home away from home. Thank you.

Excellent single storey barn conversion in quiet village location ideal for touring the Broads

We were two couples touring around the Norfolk Broads for a week and this is an ideal location to set out from every day. Set in the grounds of the owner's House, this converted barn has been finished to a high standard and was very comfortable for 4 adults. The village is very quiet with walks through the fields to the river and lots of easily reached villages and nature reserves, and of course the Norfolk Broads. Our hosts also provided an array of local and hand made produce which was a delightful start to our holiday. Highly recommended.

    Beautiful barn

What a wonderful weekend break at the barn. Viv was an excellent host providing lots of information in advance to help with our stay. On arrival the fresh bread and welcome basket was a wonderful surprise and my two year loved the toys viv left out for him. The barn itself was very clean and has been thought out very well with beautiful fixtures. The location is excellent and very easy to get to beaches and the broads. I would definitely recommend the property and Viv as a host.

    Perfect stay

What a fantastic find, the barn is so much bigger than the photos suggest. Everything is done to such a high quality it was a perfect stay - down to the welcome pack and delicious home made cake and selection of board games. Wonderfully located for both the broads and Beach - we can’t wait to come back!

Me and my girlfriend spent one week here (wish we had booked for two!) and we loved every minute of it. The accommodation is stunning. Being a carpenter/ furniture maker I could really appreciate the quality and detail of the renovation - it’s been finished to a very high standard and Viv’s added beach-vibe touches which we loved. We were blown away when we first walked in as the place is MUCH bigger than the images imply - Viv had also kindly left us some homemade cake and bread along with some other goodies - thank you! The area is also super nice and peaceful - we enjoyed spending our evenings eating and drinking by the fire listening to the wildlife. The welcome book is super helpful and there is advice on places to go. We took advantage of the free parking by the beach pretty much every day - it’s super easy to find, it’s less than a 10 minute drive and there was always loads of spaces. We’re used to busy car parks and paying loads! The beach was peaceful and big! During the week there was hardly anyone there. We also loved seeing the seals! I will be recommending this place to friends and family as well as hopefully coming back soon - we may have to make it an annual trip! Thank you again!
