In Recoleta, just north of downtown Buenos Aires, many important figures have been buried in the neighborhood’s vast cemetery. Ninety-four of Recoleta Cemetery’s 4,691 vaults have been declared National Historical Monuments. Former First Lady Eva Perón, Napoleon’s granddaughter, several Argentine presidents, and some Nobel Prize winners, are buried here.
For more culture, tour the Recoleta Cultural Center, visit the National Library of Argentina, or explore the affluent neighborhood’s many museums, including the National Museum of Fine Arts of Argentina and museums dedicated to the works of local artists such as Xul Solar, an Argentine painter and sculptor.
