You Might Want to Cool It Down
This was our second time staying at Gild Hall. We like everything about it except for the temperature in the room. It was hot during both stays and I can't understand why the rooms are set for 73 degrees. We used the fan and eventually turned the system off but it never got cool.

The building, especially the room we stayed in, was old, tired and not serviced well. The lock on the bathroom door was a nail! There was grout missing around the floor and glass wall tiles, the fittings were rusty, the shelf space cramped and there was no extractor fan to remove steam. The bedroom had a saturated carpet when we arrived and the hotel could do nothing to assist. They offered us (mother and son sharing) a king bed room for one night. Really? Then they said we could change back to another double room the night after. Whether or not we moved, why did they put is in a room with a wet carpet which was because the room had had a deep clean. Why was it necessary to deep the clean the carpet to that extent? What had happened there? The hotel do offer a breakfast pre booked system to guests and those guests who choose this are offered an insubstantial and half size portion to those who pay in full. If they are not providing a first class service, don't offer guests a token breakfast making them feel inadequate. Three members of staff felt it their right to answer back and tell guests that they knew better. What happened to service. There was no kettle in the room, no coffee maker and this is for an American hotel allegedly 4 stars. My room was definitely not a four star room. It was shabby, old and tired and the most was worth around $50 a night. A motel is better

The room we stayed in was old, tired and rundown. On arrival the carpet was wet and despite us being a mother and son booking, we were offered a king room for one night and back to a twin the next. This being totally impractical, we vame back the next day to an industrial dehumidifier blocking access to one of the beds. The biggest quesruon is, why did the carpet meed such a deep clean and why was the room rented out loke that? The room was not cleaned properly most days and every day we were greered by another guest's name on the television. The bathroom had a nail for a lock, grout missing along the floor and walls with rust around the taps. The extractor fan didn't work either so the bathroom with a curtain to protect privacy, stayed steamed up for nearly an hour. We were on a bed and breakfast stay and the hotel are so tight fisted that the breakfast we were given was served on a half size plate and consisted of one slice of toast and one egg. Hardly a breakfast. We felt like insignificant guests and it was a case of we didn't pay as much as the other diners so we couldn't be given the same as the others. I could carry on describing this old tired building with some rude staff who answered back, like Elizabeth, Rob and the server in the Felice restaurant but I have a life to live. This hotel would be perfect at $75 a night in an old sea-side town, not the financial district of New York.
