Old but grand.
Old hotel but generally in good shape. Free parking is great. There was an issue with the bathroom sinks not draining. It was fixed at our request but still had issues. Old plumbing I guess. Ambiance is good. Front desk staff very helpful. Didn't try the restaurant. Price is reasonable.

excellent experience. Great location. Friendly reception. We were upgraded to junior suite, an unexpected but beautiful surprise.

There was an issue with hotels .com and the hotel which led us to be booked into another hotel as the royal marine was full, not what you want to hear after 20 hours travel The receptionist in the royal marine was very apologetic and helpful to us just an unfortunate incident and for the first time using makes me wonder will I use them again

Rooms need updating
My husband and I were very impressed with the entrance to the hotel both from the main entrance and the car park. The reception area was modern and had beautiful decor, and check in was swift, esp given that we were an hour early. The hotel room itself was very average and the bathroom was old fashioned, small and not at all in keeping with the main areas of the hotel. We enjoyed a drink in the bar/reception area-we had 2 drinks each but on the second round my husband could not have a corona as the fridge had not been restocked. We did not eat in the hotel but the food looked and smelled delicious. Recommend 8a Brasserie in Monkstown. Overall we enjoyed our stay as the hotel was in a great location to explore the local area.

Nice hotel, good value
Period hotel dating from the Victorian era, with Queen Victoria herself amongst the guests who have stayed here. Accommodation is mostly in two modern wings, and the guest rooms are comfortable, though anyone expecting a sea view will most likely be disappointed - I have stayed in the Royal Marine on quite a few occasions and I have generally got a view of the car park or adjoining street from my room. Food is good, service is fine, and my only quibble was the small quantity of the toiletries in each room: on our last trip, we had five people in two rooms and each room had just one tube of shower gel and one of shampoo, plus one soap.
