Great if you want to party ALL night!
I live about 6 hours away and frequently come into the city for shows. This hotel was a quick favorite: it's pretty clean, has a gated courtyard (a plus in the Tenderloin), close to great music venues, and the on-site restaurant has good hours. However, during this visit, despite having booked months before, we were surprised to learn that there was a private party onsite and we could only use the restaurant if we paid to go. Even though quiet hours are posted as midnight, we were sad to find that the party at the restaurant was still raging way later. At nearly 1am, N*Sync and Britney Spears were blasting from speakers about 50 feet from our room, while at least a hundred people partied on the courtyard. The walls and floor to ceiling windows are so thin that we felt like we were a part of the conversation while people smoked and lamented their relationship woes a few feet from our bed. When we complained to hotel staff, we were told that the restaurant is a separate business that "shares" the courtyard. The gated courtyard was essentially useless, as partygoers could enter from the party or tried to sneak in behind people staying in rooms. Unofficial room parties went into the early morning, with occupants finally being removed by the police. It was like having your bed parked in the back of a smoky, loud club, and a very disappointing experience for the price we paid. I will not be staying again and would not recommend to anyone looking to get any sleep.

City oasis
Good location - a few blocks away from The Orpheum Theatre. It's a perfect oasis in the middle of the city! Great staff, nice and clean, great restaurant and bar on site.

I loved this place! We stayed here to decomp after burning man and didn't get looked at weird when we showed up dusty. The courtyard is a great mini resort vibe for maximum relaxation. The heated pool is the best. People say negative things about the area but whatever. I didn't feel uncomfortable, the street people were just chatting and laughing amongst themselves whenever I walked by any of them. Keep your wits about you, but try to kill stigma. We will be staying here next year after the burn as well! 5 minute walk from where the Burner Express Bus dropped us off!

Great Friendly Hotel recommendations for restaurants etc. were spot on. The restaurant on site was really good for evenings (shame closed on a Monday) Sad about the many living on the streets nearby (but that's a State problem)
